Blacks Condemn Liberal Racism Against Condi Rice
it's about time. i've personally heard far too many people refer to condoleeza rice and colin powell as 'tokens' or that they were given their positions for 'show'. incredibly offensive. apparently, a black person in america is simply not allowed to be conservative. it's just not possible. therefore, it is open season, since they can't possibly be 'real' black people.

I haven't seen the cartoons in question. But the link posted here shows the Uncle Ben's rice box. I would think that's a play on rice (?)
I do agree that there are many who expect blacks to be liberal, Democratic, whatever. It's still a stereotype. It's still rotten.

Caqn't see what the fuss is about. The more people fuss about it, the worse it will get, and the more divergent attitudes will get. Best just get on with it - for a good example, a football team from the UK played a Spanish team recently, there were racist chants by the Spanish to do with "monkeys", and other problems. One of the UK black players who had been insulted was interviewed on television, and the interviewer was saying how shocking it all was, and awful, and Oh! How bad! - the player who had been insulted just said (words to the effect of) "Well, I don't care, it doesn't bother me that a bunch or arses say this sort of thing, most people are OK" and that was that. He was great, very impressive. The interviewer was left without sensationalism, and the conversation dried up and turned to better things. Didn't stop the tabloids having their little pop, though.

you're missing the point. your example above is dandy. but nobody is suggesting that condoleeza rice is taking offense or responding to the insults. the issue is that the liberal left in this country believes that if a black person is not also on the liberal left, then they are a 'traitor - so it is acceptable to use racism and bigotry in condemning them - the *very* principles that the left trumpets ad nauseum as being *their* moral higher ground - inclusion, equality, freedom from bigotry and racism. The left accuses the right of bigotry and racism at every possible turn. When a minority achieves a position of power within a republican administration, the racist derision is not just palpable, it is overt.
This puts the lie to the left's bogus claims to the moral high ground.

A box of rice doesn't take me quite that far. Maybe you have some additional links that we can all read?
I do agree that there is racism, reverse racism, and an expectation that everyone stick to their assigned roles.

I can't figure this out. Are you saying it's racist to have Uncle Ben on the box of rice, too? Or just Condi? I didn't hear any great outpourings of anti-racist anger when old Uncle Ben's picture is on there.
Don't you feel it's possible that it's just a play on the name rice, and a further pun on the slogan?

Songseeker, thank you! I feel better about the rice box thing.
The cartoon you posted is definitely racist and offensive. It's also calling her a "house nigga" by the play on the Gone With the Wind childbirth scene. Yuck!
