Ever have one of THOSE weeks?

Post by Jives »

It's been unbelievably hectic around my house and work lately.

This week so far:

I had to break up- a fight between two girls who have hated each other since 6th grade. While I was doing that, the mothers started pounding on each other.

I had to expell a gangster who convinced them to fight, then he turned around and vandalised the school.

I took in two kids who are very nice, but became wards of the state because their mom is a meth-head. Unfortunately, one of them is a cleptomaniac and stole all my pens and pencils.

The cat brought in a mouse, which died behind the refridgerator. By the time I smelled it, it had decayed to the point of liquifiying. the clean up was grosser than anything you can imagine.

Soon after the vacuum cleaner caught fire.

I had to sell most of my DVDs, and pawn my wife's car to get money for the rent. (U.S. teachers live close to the poverty level.) The loan sharks that I pawned it to were charging 500% interest.

At the same time my dirver's license came up for renewal. That was at the same time that my cell phone got shut off and my auto insurance expired.

Without money I couldn't get insurance, and without that, I couldn't get my license, meaning I'd have to drive around without one. The exact same circumstances that caused me to lose my license for 8 years before.

Worse yet, they make you take the driving test and road test over again if you let it expire.

I inserted a CD into my wife's car stero, but it jammed. The company says that they will have to replace the entire unit.

My wife had neck surgery, but that went well. Unfortunately, she still hasn't been able to work this year.

I had to have a garage sale to get money for her prescriptions.

The next day..when all was lost..I got a check in the mail from the insurance agency. A small policy I had gotten years ago when I became a teacher paid off for the surgery. The check was for $17,000.

I paid off the car, bought a vacuum, repaired the stereo, bought some medicine, got my insurance, renewed my license, turned on the cell phones, bought back my DVDs, and squirted the cat with a water bottle.

Such is life. Did you ever have one of those weeks where it seemed like everything happened at once?:-5

Oh Jives, you are an angel. The one about the student's mothers fighting sounds so much like my school, but the vandalizer! I am glad your wife's surgery went well, and wish you the best of luck tomorrow, it is Friday!

LOL! Only you would understand the trials and tribulations of a teacher, eh Chonsi?

Thanks for the wishes, tomorrow night I'm going out to the nicest restaurant I can find and ordering up the biggest steak they have!

Jives, nobody with your credentials and responsibility should have to live that close to the financial edge. I’m glad that check arrived when it did.

Aren't you glad you didn't have that kind of a week when you were flying?

I'm also glad your wife's surgery went well and I hope she continues to get better.

Jives - doesn't that apply to my life? I think a lot of people's lives go from bad to worse to better again. It just seems a roller coaster. We think all is well and then it isn't AND because we have to maintain good thoughts - it goes to good again - if only for a week or two.

We have had bad times followed by good news followed by bad news followed by good news. At 50 we accept the bad news because of our age and embrace the good news ---DUH -- because of our age. Getting older.

I didn't say any of that right.

It was one of those weeks when l bet you wished you could bury your head under the duvet and not come out!

I think we have all had those, wondering what it was you did so evil in a past life?

Im glad it all turned out okay for you in the end.

Make sure you get all the trimmings to go with that steak, and a nice bunch of flowers for your wife;)

Phew.. Wow Jives what a week you've had so far!!

On the other hand, you have your health, and your beautiful wife by your side,

You have a a job that you excel at and enjoy.

You have your home, and are surrounded daily by children that some day you will be proud to say "I turned that kid around"

And you got a new vacuum.

Now go dry the cat, and give your wife a big hug X:yh_hugs

Bloody hell Jives what a week. I would echo the miserable state of our economic priorities when some dysfunctional twit with bad hair can get paid £80k plus a week for kicking a football around and teachers have to live on the breadline!!

Jives, reading that post shows what a natural optimist you are.

But what you didn't say was which side you live on. A good raise would help many teachers reach the poverty level.

I'm glad that check came in time. You deserve one of those every week.

The posts after your thread indicate it's all true........

WOW!

I'm glad your week from Hell is over and hope good health in both body, mind and wallet are in your future.

Sorry for your misfortune Jives, wasn't there another post that said money can't buy happiness, sounds like "money" could have made your life if not happy, at least much more pleasant!!!

And isn't it true that life seems like a cosmic joke sometimes?

thats one of the worst weeks ive heard of anyone ever having!! that must be all your bad luck in one go....

LOL! Yeah...that should mean that I've in for a run of good luck, eh?:D

you sound pretty humourous about it all though??

And that's a great observation. When life gets like this you can break down and cry, or you can laugh it off and shout at the Lord in the storm!

so glad your wife is ok, i think you two should have a nice romantic cozy evening in where there can be no mice or mobiles or cars around!

And that's exactly what I intend to do! Thanks for the well-wishes everyone!

No Kidding! If anyone out there is thinking about getting a loan froma title loan company, think twice. I got a $1000 loan and paid it off in just a month and a half....by that time I owed those criminals $1850!

ONE of those weeks??? My regular weeks are like something from a Stephen King novel. Im told over and over again"You simply must write a book" I have a business here that is sliding deeper and deeper into debt everyday... potential buyers (who could save my rear) who are trying to rip me off in negotiations...

A 20 year old son who cannott recover from the breakup of his marriage.. calling me at least 10 times a day... Dermatologists who want to get me on their lifelong income list, examining moles that Ive had my whole life.. because a bad one cropped up 6 weeks ago. An elderly man with flaring nostrils who sneaks up on me periodically on his bicycle... who tried to grab me in the yard last week.. Another old geezer across the street who wants to pay me 1000,00 to look at my breasts.. ( are we allowed to mention breasts?) Ive tried to get him to write the check. A mother in Virginia who sounds drunk on the phone (shes not drunk.. its stress related) And a dad whos always telling me GOD BLESS to annoy me, before he hangs up. I have to make deals on a daily basis here to get the HOUSE accounts to pay their bills.. like their doing me a favor.. Im supposed to fly to New York on Friday to go to a friends wedding(that was supposed to be fun) I dont know if I can pay the bills at the shop, dig up something to wear, not have the trip interfere with the life saving possible closing.. abandon the son who keeps calling... and leave without having a biopsy on a little toe with a black line under the nail. I certainly dont want to die up at my friends house in New York, and cause a problem.............. YOUVE GOTTA LAUGH.... EH??????????????
