No, not really.
In many ways football hooliganism Is a form of patriotism and has been around for decades.
The EDL who are the morons to take to the streets are nothing more than football hooligans.
The UAF who claim they want to rid this country of the nasty BNP also take to the streets and engage In violence with the EDL and the Police which Is all rather hypocritical In the extreme. They do what others think we do.
I called a committee meeting In a lovely Somerset pub last week where we ordered pots of tea and discussed such things as how many stamps I would need for a mass mailshot.... yep, us BNP are pretty dangerous :wah:
I do believe that this country has lost It's Identity In many ways and with that Patriotism Is on the wane.

It's name shouts patriotism to me.
Why the focus on Wooton Basset ?
And the many TV programs about Troops in many formats ?
Just seems to me to be a subtle change in the way Brits view the Military.

I don't understand the reasons for the various conflicts that this country is involved in, but, if supporting and respecting the people who serve in the British Forces is patriotic, then that's what I am.

We expect our military to do as they are told and fight, if anything wooton bassett highlighted the pointlessness of it and embarrassed the government. I don't think that or help for heroes is blind patriotism more respect for the individual soldier, doesn't mean people actually support the war or our part in it. Recruitment is at an all time low I doubt any soldier sees it as their patriotic duty there's more to it than that. The faux patriotism of the likes of the BNP is pathetic. Scottish and welsh nationalism is more in response to domination by a Westminster government with it's mind set in the south east of England and an aggressive contempt for anything not in it. Thatcher probably did more to end the union than anyone else has ever done.

Bruv a few years ago the government began bringing patriotism into schools. flag raising adn singing the national anthem .... Everyone I know is a little weirded out by this .
