Let's start a lighthearted Christmas with a little vintage dancing by Mary Tyler Moore & Dick Van Dyke. That was a great show they had back when! "Ohhhhhh Rooooooooooobbbbb"

lol ... finally!! A version of that song that doesn't put me to sleep!! I like! :guitarist

For all those who have ever wanted a hippo for Christmas (??), enjoy this great novelty song from the 1950s. I never hear it on mainstream radio stations and only on locally owned small stations. It's so catchy and what a voice that little girl has!

The page will scroll along as the song unfolds but I have to click it once or twice to get it going.

Have a chat with Santa ... I'm sure he'll appreciate the break from his workload. I found him rather dry in speech but nobody said he had to be the life of the party! At times he came across as a half-wit but I decided to overlook that as well

Question............where does the expression Happy holidays come from? We say Merry Christmas but foreigners tend to say happy holidays? What's behind that?

We always used to say "Merry Christmas" also. I'm not sure when or where "Happy Holidays" originated but I think these days it's encouraged as a December all inclusive greeting to everyone regardless of faith and tends to be holiday non-specific. You can toss "Happy Holidays" out there and you're covered whether they celebrate Hanukkah , Kwanzaa, Christmas, Festivus, Winter Solstice or some obscure observance. Employers prefer it over claims of insensitivity.
