What Is It with British TV Christmas Advertising that we have to have some god awful advert repeated every 20 minutes throughout programmes?
If It's not some X Factor failure murdering some song to promote cheap frozen food, It's some bimbo Z list celeb screeching the delights of their new perfumes.
Now, one I do like Is this. I don't know why but It just cracks me up laughing.

I am a bit of a contradiction when it comes to advertisements, I hate them with a vengeance when they interrupt a programme.
But when you get a good one, like the John Lewis one, they are tiny brilliant masterpieces.
If you analyse what goes into such a short snapshot of time they are far more than 'just' advertisements.
The thought that goes into capturing your attention and the self contained story that gets you into wanting to know what is happening is brilliant.
Everybody 'knows' what that advert is all about, until then end, then the twist that warms your heart.
And of course there are the nauseating ones, that work well but irritate........................their job has been done though..............'simples'.

That's the beauty of the John Lewis advertisment. I didn't watch it initially but thought that the song was rather lovely. Then, a few days later, I concentrated on it and thought, oh no, a spoilt child wanting more, what does that say about Christmas? Huh!
And then, at the end, I had a tear in my eye.

The John Lewis ad is precious. I also like the American Hallmark where they are advertizing a little clock like thing that keeps track of how much longer til Christmas. A little blue eyed angelic girl keeps everyone imformed of just how many days. I have watched it a hundred times and still find it refreshing. Children certainly see Christmas differently than us SC.
