Winter solstice means 'illumination' at California mission - latimes.com
What a wonderful sight to experience! I don't know why people can't accept that it's no mere coincidence. There's nothing new under the sun ... no pun intended! I'm certain they knew exactly what they were doing regarding placement of the church & windows.

Of course they knew when they built the churches, and it makes it special still as those days come around and the sunlight lights specific places. Makes me miss the San Gabriel mission, that was the one closest to me and we went in there often.
