So... Christopher Hitchens.

Thank God he didn't suffer long.

I imagine he's currently surrounded by blackness saying "see? I told you there was nothing after death! HA!! Ha Ha Ha!!! Hey. Who am I talking to?

... Damn."

If hatred and intolerance keep you out of heaven he's probably there wondering where all the fundamentalists are and god's explaining how they all miss the point and how believing you will be going to heaven while those others who don't believe as you do won't is not necessarily going to make it true.

It always amazes me how the godly love to heap vitriol and hatred on anyone that asserts a right to disagree with them. Whatever his sins imagined or otherwise I'm fairly sure he never took delight in the death of anyone far less joy in the notion they are suffering in the afterlife.

Hitchens was an abrasive, obnoxious person I didn't like when he was alive. I hardly think he'd expect me to change my point of view now that he's dead. He'd never have replied to me before so I can't be held culpable that he can't reply now.

Not everybody did - I never did, I don't laugh at disabled people or the mentally ill either. Not being religious I don't take delight in the sufferings of others either or wish them ill because they believe something different from me. I'm sure when he was alive he wouldn't have cared what you think of him as a person why you feel the need to express your hatred even after he is dead is something for you to come to terms with.

Who was it who said And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us.

No doubt someone religious will pop in now and tell me I am using the wrong version
