The Third Jihad

The New York Police Commissioner is being called on to resign after taking part in anti-Muslim propaganda and screening the resulting "documentary" The Third Jihad to 1500 officers in training sessions.

I know this is a big deal. I found myself not caring that much because it's not my community but then I realised that its really important. I find myself blocking the issue mentally when it starts to wander into considering how corrupt and oppressive our institutions have become. It's pretty scary. The police play a big role in whether or not we are a free, democratic society.

Ray Kelly will not be resigning. There will be no resignations over this.

And that excuses racism within his department?

If his home life is affecting his judgement at work in such a critical role then maybe he should stand down.

He definitely won't stand down. This is not an important thing in NYC. It's just not a big deal here.
