Right now at 1:20 PM here at this part of the South Island of New Zealand it is 68 F. It will reach a high of 72 F (54C) today. The locals consider this a pretty warm day and others refer to it as being hot. Bear in mind now that it is mid summer in the Southern Hemisphere. Mid summer where I live in California the temperatures would be in the high 90's with many days 100+. Now that is hot. It is interesting how we acclimate to weather where we live most of the year. My son in laws sister is visiting here from London and she is sweltering and wants to go to the beach this afternoon because she is soooooo hot.
I guess an Eskimo would really be suffering in this weather. :wah:

What's Hot?? What's Not??
When I lived in Florida that was a winter day, and we were looking through our closets to find that one jacket we had stashed away.
Now, in Colorado, we had near 65 today, and folks are losing their jackets and wearing t-shirts.

I lived in Littleton, Colo. in 1947 and can remember wearing t shirts in pretty cold weather.

In Phoenix in 1992, I believe, I was working outside on the day it was 118˚F in the shade. ( I was working at a gas station checking engines, man! was that ever miserable!) When I was growing up in Northern Montana in the '70s, I remember standing out at the bus stop on more than one day where the temperature with wind chill was -70˚F. Maybe that's why I live in New Mexico now. Never gets warmer than 90˚F or colder than 20˚F here.

They always say that "in the shade" down there. Probably because the thermometer dies in the sun.
I was in Phoenix last year when a big-ass thunderstorm blew over the town. When I headed to the customer site in the morning, it was 109 and 98% humidity.
I was drenched in sweat before I got to the car.
I was glad that the guy I had to meet was late, I sat in the air-conditioned lobby long enough for moisture in my clothes to evaporate.
When we broke for lunch, all the moisture had dissipated, the temp had gone up to 112.
It actually felt much cooler than the morning.

The lack of humidity makes such a difference.
20 in Missouri seemed a lot colder than 20 in Colorado.

It's been -10 ºC here last night, i guess this would be 14 ºF... tomorrow it might be that cold during the day!
Last week it was 5 ºC (41 ºF) suddenly it plummeted within a day orso to -5 ºC ( 23 ºF )
I am freezing my bum off!
