It’s A Strange Strange Cyber World We Live in Here.

Post by jones jones »

Why? Well there’s this naughty boy who had the cheek to go off down to the farm for the weekend without letting anyone except his cyber best friend know. When he gets back he finds an entire thread devoted to his leaving the Forum for good & some member asking him to kiss their grits and another even betting that “of course he’ll return cos he’s like hooked on the feeling of the Forum.” This self same betting man even says he’ll personally return to the thread and laugh when this happens and what’s more … he does! Wow.

And the strangest part of all is that the naughty boy personally, himself and he, never once mentioned a word about leaving FG before he left for his R & R in the country. Like I said, really, really weird … almost creepy you might be excused for saying.

And when he returned, you could almost hear the collective heaving a collective sigh of relief that he was back. Wonder why? Could it be that they were happy that they wouldn’t have to go to the trouble of finding a new whipping boy/girl? Or perhaps they were so pleased that at least now they would have threads they could reply to and make rude remarks on; even if one did so whilst speaking in tongues so that he was the only person who understood what he meant!! :yh_rotfl

So with apologies to Charles D., the Duchess & of course the pig, I give you this little ditty. Altogether now!

“Speak kindly to the Chosen One

And praise him when he teases,

He only does it to be nice

Because he knows it pleases!”

Chorus: “Wow! wow! wow!"

The other strange part was that not only did you say nothing about leaving FG, the title of the thread was ' Apparently the forum Is dead'.

Now, nowhere did anyone state that the forum was dead. The exact words I believe were ' JJ stops posting and page one dies a death'... which on that day was correct. On that day, there was one new thread.

Funny how It all gets exaggerated and by the same people.

I didn't point that out at the time as I would have been branded one of your hussie's.

To be clear, when a posting history, just in the last few months, goes like this:

http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/gener ... irgin.html

JJ explaining what's wrong with the forum and why it is dying

http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/gener ... -well.html

JJ explaining why he's leaving the forum

http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/gener ... forum.html

JJ explaining what's wrong with the forum and why it is dying

http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/gener ... -want.html

JJ explaining why he'll never leave the forum

http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/gener ... nswer.html

JJ explaining what's wrong with the forum and why it is dying

http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/gener ... ost1384023

JJ's PM explaining how he thinks he runs the forum

The member creates a very clear picture of what they are doing. It doesn't need to be said precisely because it has been shown.

Bruv;1384711 wrote: But here's a LinkThank goodness psychology has come a long way since 1994. There's nothing wrong with a good dose of narcissism, it's healthy and proves to have been a necessary survival adaptation, or it probably wouldn't have developed. Anyway, the points mentioned in that link are sloppily written to say the least. For example: "Lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others." Empathy is not something one chooses to exercise, one is either equipped with empathy or not, and my guess is most people on forums, both male and female, are in short supply of it. Incidentally, lacking empathy is not necessarily a bad thing.

So JJ likes praise, and mainly female praise at that. That is in fact quite natural, though it's a sign of a youthful attitude. My personal problem with JJ's behavior is that he seems bent on undermining one or two particular members here. There is no doubt that the schoolyard behavioral activities of a few others undoubtedly going on in the background serves to only encourage him by feeding his need to please females, so he often finds himself in conflict.

As a percentage of posts to the forum 2 replies to JJ's seems reasonable.

Question....You have beaten the horse to death...You are bored with this thread per the prior posts....why do you keep coming back?

Are we hosting a game show or something?

BTW don't bother to answer....it won't mean anything of importance.

Yeah, I never understood people entering threads and then announcing they're bored with the topic... or a thread started for fans of a TV show, actor, singer, whatever and someone inevitably has to post how much they hate the show, actor, singer, whatever. Then why did you bother opening the thread?

I see threads a bit like any conversation...people expressing different opinions or saying they're bored. And it isn't before you enter the conversation, or thread, that you realise this.

I would recommend not looking for any deep meaning to it - some people are simply idiots. You have to decide how much of your life you want to waste trying to communicate with them. At least on a forum you can simply ignore them, imagine if this was real life and they were in your face!

More bored with the constant behaviours on display, not the thread, not any one particular post, nothing specific, not FG, just a general boredom with the game playing.

Oh! I have. I probably wouldn't do it in a very formal situation but if I join a group of colleagues, family or friends and I'm bored, I'll say so. And I would expect some humorous retort or insulting banter, which would be well deserved but which would, from my experience, make us all laugh.
