Family Names....

Post by Oscar Namechange »

I have a brand new Great Niece today :guitarist

Already the debate for names has begun.

My family has some-what of a tradition of good old British names and I can only apologise to the Australian contingent but my Father believed names such as Kyle and Kylie were an abomination from the bowels of hell.

Our Family children are named Henry, George, William etc but somewhere In the name will be a James which Is family tradition.

Does your family have a concurrent name?

No long standing tradition in our family but one of my co-workers is the seventh in line and his grandson in the ninth to hold the same name so it does happen.

When my brothers little boy was born 7 years ago, his late great Grandfather on his mothers side was a Henry and his late Grandmother on my brothers side was a Henrietta... That saved much debate.

Ours is James ... from my father's side. If you wanted to inherit, you had to be James.

My mother hated the name and called me Jamie her whole life.

Paul is a recurring favorite male name in our family and both Virginia and Caroline were favorites of my colonial ancestors and still find their way into the family tree.

Congratulations on your grand-niece, Oscar!

Does your family have a concurrent name? George Foreman obviously attempted the same statement...Foreman has 11 children, and each of his five sons is named George: George Jr., George III, George IV, George V, and George VI.I suppose he failed miserably considering His four younger sons are distinguished from one another by the nicknames "Monk," "Big Wheel," "Red," and "Little Joey." seeing as the end result established each child to make their own names, being "Monk," "Big Wheel," "Red," and "Little Joey."...

What a traumatic experience for those children
