What an amazing turn of events has unfolded over the last few days.
As far as I can work out, the tanker drivers have objected to dangerous working practices creeping into their job.
They voted they would consider striking to sort it out.....but would need to give seven days notice anyway.
Since then, the Government has stoked up fears of a crisis by merely mentioning the possibility of shortages and rumours of the army taking over the distribution.
Lots of garages have queues, in Cornwall a garage has refused a holiday maker fuel on the grounds it is limited and must go to locals and account holders.
Another news story tonight has a women seriously burned transferring fuel from container to container in her kitchen.
Panic buying has meant a fuel shortage due to the supply chain being unable to cope with the increase in demand.
Are we all really that gullible ?
Fuel shortage.....farce ?

The Government certainly do seem to have created a problem over this.
I remember the last strike where the advice was ' Do not panic buy' as this creates a bigger shortage.

You notice there is no discussion about what exactly it is the drivers are objecting to? As to the high salaries just remember they are driving around a potential explosion that would take out a fair chunk of a town if they are careless. If MP's went on strike how long before we noticed? Incidentally while they are busy cutting everybody's pensions and having to work longer to get them anybody notice they haven't done so with theirs? Bastards the lot of them.

It's clearly an attempt by the government to work up public animosity against strikers. Still no word on what the actual dispute is about.

It has been lost in the debacle that has followed, but I did hear it was down to the drivers concerns about safety problems with corner cutting due to working practice pressure.

If I tell you the truth, will you believe me ?
I will say this only once.........
The strike was NEVER on
The tanker drivers voted whether they would consider striking.
They might or might not strike, but if they did, they would need to give 7 days notice.........according to what I have read and seen.
Plenty enough time to panic, when or if the declare a strike.
