Request for research participants

Post by MissSmith »

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for people to complete a short questionnaire for me, i'm conducting comparative research into interaction over various social internet environments and as forum users I could really use you help!

The research is for The University of Bolton in the UK, contact details for any formal inquiries are accessible from the survey.

Thank you in advance! :)

Hi MissSmith

I've taken part in the survey. How far into your studies are you? Can we see the results too?

Hi Betty, that's great thank you!

I'm 18 months into my PhD so half way through, although the dissertation is a way off the results of this survey will be available sooner! I'll inbox you the link when it's done.

Thanks again!

And another one - but I must say that the pairs of statements in that last section were often both true or neither which made it hard to be accurate.

Yeay! thank you Bryn! :D

Yeps the last section is tricky, as long as you chose the one which was closest to how you see yourself, your answers will be accurate.

Thank you so much :)

I am confused.......not like me I know.

I started and I probably rushed it a little.

The questions were slanted as if I was to answer about a particular other person, I thought I was filling in information about Forum participation not one to one communication.

I closed the questionnaire to re-start, but every time I click on your link I get returned to the same place, part way into the questions.

Do I have to clear my cookies or something ?
I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth

Like Bruv, I completed the questionnaire without hesitation because I'm more capable than other people.

I meant to write "Unlike Bruv"... I'm apparently not as capable as I thought.

That is a very definite no - did you notice the two questions in the first section - what is your on-line gender and what is your real life gender?

If you have to ask I think you know the answer already.

A comment on the questions: there did seem to be a discontinuity between focusing on, firstly, the discussion forum and the mental state of the poster, and secondly an assumed online relationship with someone and no introductory phrasing at all. Quite how that mental leap was meant to happen I'm not sure. Perhaps intuitive assumption was involved. I'm not good at intuitive assumption.

Bruv, i definitely do need to get out more! But seen as i am glued to my desk, it's nice to have a chuckle here!

As for the seeming discontinuity, i know you guys are not expecting me to 'discuss' the questionnaire on a thread that people will read before completing it!

Something along the lines of Bryn's brain acting long before illumination arrives might work.

Far be it from me to make any such recommendation though there are moments on this site when I wonder whether certain members ever do.
