Off to a nice start, and held up through the run. Nice first outing.

I agree...
A Maiden Is always a nail biter... no track record and no experience of crowds of people screaming and shouting on the day.
I am absolutely thrilled with her..... she was beautiful In the parade ring... so calm.... she moved to post and entered the starting gates as smooth as butter... She did what she was asked by her jockey...
My racing buddies have been messaging me all afternoon and they all say she looks as though she has massive potential..
I am not making excuses here for her but we must bear In mind she favours firm ground and the rain turned the going too soft for her liking.... to come 4 th on unfavoured ground Is a magnificent start to her career...
Also bearing In mind, the favourite was the pace maker who did have form and has raced. Duchess came In just half a length behind her..... I couldn't have asked for more from her debut...

She seemed to tire around the last 3 furlong mark and then she responded to her Jockey and made a burst at the final stage..... that's a very good sign In a race horse.

You know what ?
We are all very excited In deed.
She knows what to do and how to do It. She comes out those stalls like a whippet and here she led the field. ( Stall 3, yellow colours ). She had everything against her again. Rain and soft going which she does not favour and conceding weight.
OK, only 4th again, but look at her fly right up to the last furlong and she came In a respectable 2-3 lengths behind the winner.
Tomorrow she will be awarded her handicap by the Horse Racing Authority and because she's been unplaced now In three non handicap races, she's very likely to Incur a low mark meaning she will carry far less weight next time out :sneaky::sneaky::sneaky:..... You'll notice that her first three races, she has not so much as been shown the whip :sneaky::sneaky: Now watch her fly !!!
Go Duchess... Run like the wind :-4

Her 4th race and her first handicap. Again, unfavoured ground and outside stall ( 17 )
What a shame.... 18 runners so slightly boxed In and tired at the last 50 yards to finish 7th.

Still very pleased with her. Not beaten by great distances so with the right stall and the right conditions, she'll Improve all the time.
