My point was, when I started this thread, that it is easy to obtain, what I think is a personal document.

I am basically honest so have no intention of obtaining anybody else's birth certificate and use it fraudulently.

I am sure that there are many people in this world would take advantage of the system as it is, and I find that worrying.im not sure who accepts birth certificates as legal ID but copies are hardly the original and in such a case people need more than just a birth certificate to do any damage here in the states. Without the ssn the birth certificate is useless. Without some ID number a name written on paper doesn't mean anything

I'd also say that there is far easier methods to steal ones identity

To take the identifying photograph.......you started it.

Would it be OK to take a photo as a day old baby ?

6 Months old, or when they first start school ?

The person who gets the certificate alters rapidly for the first 20 years of life ?
I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth

You leave out the essential words "ferrets", "sackful of" and "mad as a".

Maybe there will be a press conference.
