Sound system is screwed though, you can hardly hear the singers over the orchestra.

No, in the introduction it was mentioned as being the best concert in living memory, sorry Gary, as hard as you tried it was nowhere near as good as Live Aid.

The choice of acts was idiosyncratic. Why Stevie Wonder, for example? How does he fit into a British celebration? And putting Suggs and his mates on the roof only worked because of the light show, I've never found their music even remotely amusing.

The setting matters, you know. If he was playing this weekend at the Princess Pavilion I'd be pleased to attend, but at a Jubilee concert he can only really be described as representing a rebel ex-colony.

Did you not see him at the Last Night of the Proms last year? I expect that was the trigger for the invitation to play with the London Philharmonic last night, he went down a storm with the Prom audience. As for the nationality of the players, he was playing last night as a guest soloist with a major British orchestra.

Come on, Bruv refers to "a favourite celebratory song from his repertoire" so I can't have imagined he sang it. It's a join-in crowd song about birthday birthday birthday, if I have to post a Youtube of it I expect I could. Should I?

Mr Wonder has developed a niche market of singing at celeb events. So did the rather better known Marilyn Monroe. It would have been equally out of place to have had her there singing it, this was not a celebration of the Queen's birthday. Someone evidently hadn't got that point across to the American gentleman at the piano or his minders.

Also high on Google...I'm watching the Queen's Diamond Jubilee (ruling for 60 years) and Stevie Wonder starting singing a Happy Birthday song during the Queen's concert. When he started singing the camera panned over to the royal family and they were laughing hysterically.

Did I miss something or did he mistakenly think it's the Queen's birthday?!

Maybe Stevie Wonder was actually singing Happy Birthday for Prince Phillip who's 91 st birthday Is on Sunday. Or didn't you realise that? How do you know weather he was actually asked to Include the song for Phillip before he was taken to hospital,

Regardless, It's common practice for Internationally known stars of yesteryear to sing their greatest hits at occasions such as this. Happy Birthday happens to be one of SW's greatest hits. It's how the audience connects with them and remembers them. It's how younger audiences Identify with them.

So, do you have any evidence that SW thought the Jubilee was her birthday? Or are you just assuming?
