Last Wednesday in an abortion debate in the Michigan House of Representatives Lisa Brown happened to mention the word vagina during the debate. Republicans banned her from speaking further on the subject due to the supposedly context in which she used the word.

Now, Rep. Rashida Tlaib has recommended that women withhold sex until the bill that is moving through the house putting more regulations on abortions is stopped.

I have a feeling that a lot of right wing conservatives are going to get voted out of office if their women hold off sex until this thing blows over.

Should women withhold sex for political gain?

Should Rep. Brown have said her woo hoo instead of Vagina?

Will I get reported for saying Vagina 3 times in this post.

Does anyone here feel the word vagina to be lewd.

Make that 4 times I said vagina..oops 5.

I think women should use whatever tools they have at hand when these a-holes try to regulate women's reproductive rights.

I wonder if they would have censored a man if he had used the word "scrotum" in a discussion about mandatory vasectomies. What's that, they don't have mandatory vasectomies? Maybe they should.

Pretty certain one of those old Greeks wrote a play where women stopped a war by withholding sex until their men stopped being so silly...

Yep. It was Aristophanes' Lysistrata

The link is a plot summary. chuckle. Well worth a quick read.

SparkNotes: Lysistrata: Summary
The crowd: "Yes! We are all individuals!"

Lone voice: "I'm not."

I agree, I can't believe this reaction. I read one place where a lady suggested that before a man could get viagra he would have to have a q-tip stuck into the end of his penis to check for STD's. I doubt our politicians would vote for that. LOL

Maybe they should. And they should be forced to have the vasectomies undone and redone in between procreation sexual activity. And they ought to need written permission from their doctor to procreate. It would prevent pregnancy as the result of rape or incest.

Rethuglicans are a bunch of crybabies. Remember that Ken Starr had no idea what oral sex is. Seem he never even imagined it. Repubelicans have a mental disorder. If I'm starting to get nasty, times are desperate. That rep, Rashida Tlaib, is foolish. I can't imagine most women agreeing to do anything together en masse when it comes to dealing with men. Nah.

"Should Rep. Brown have said her woo hoo instead of Vagina?" Noooooooooo. I get mad when I hear "baby bump". These idiots who say that know nothing about the struggle it took to say the Real Word, pregnant, publicly.

One of the many silly things involved in the actions in Michigan is the fact that it was deemed perfectly acceptable for the men to use the word "vagina" in the bill they were discussing, but it was not okay for a woman to say that same word in mixed company. So, it's okay for men to use the word but not women.

It used to be, & not so long ago, that it was okay for a man to do most things it was not all right for women to do. And for things sexual, a woman is still a slut when he is a bon vivant. Old-fashioned.

I kept a magazine from my teens that asks the question "Is it okay to let HIM know you are smart?" The answer was "hide it". But of course.

It's their's to do with as they will - if men presume to dictate how women should use their bodies then it's perfectly legitimate for women to dictate how men can use it.

Correction, it is always legitimate for a woman to dictate how and when a man can use her body - men had better learn not to piss them off if they want their "conjugal rights".

You are talking about a group of men that do not believe women have a right to choose and that sex is the original sin. It's not likely you will be able to have a rational discussion about it is it.

And I suppose these same women would be all up in arms if their partners went out and got it somewhere else?

I don't believe sex should be used as a weapon in any kind of argument...

I was going to say 'tool', but stopped myself...lol
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

I was going to say 'tool', but stopped myself...lolI agree! They married them and if one chooses a mate who can't respect you as an individual and for your gender then it sounds like you married a person you probably shouldn't have. It's a pretty bad relationship when one has to resort to withholding themselves in any way (love, sex, access) in order to get their mate's attention.

Most politicians are either closeted gay or guilty of infidelity anyway. Aren't they?

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to have sex with someone that thought of women that way in the first place so withholding sex wouldn't be a problem.

I agree, to use sex in a relationship as a tool or weapon is manipulative at best. Saying that, I don't think its the right of a man or husband to have sex with his wife or beloved if she decides that the answer is no for any reason. If she uses sex as her weapon of choice the relationship will probably be doomed in the end. Of course it will be the mans fault because he will seek companionship elsewhere or divorce her for lack of sex.
