Problems with BT broadband

Post by Oscar Namechange »

This Is now a joke :-5:-5:-5

About two weeks ago we were without broadband nor landline for two days.

BT fixed the problem and now this morning, the broadband dropped out again. We changed the hub and changed the filter as advised.

We get to talk to some-one In India after being on hold for 20 minutes who frankly, neither of us can barely understand.

They said they were going to monitor It.... hours passed and nothing so we rang again.

While on the phone to them after holding for another 25 minutes to be connected, he tells us that our broadband Is now fine. We ring off and the broadband drops out.

I then use the phone and the moment I do, the third blue light stays stable. I ring off and It drops out again.

Then, when I try to send and recieve e mail, It tells me there Is an error with the server.... we ring again and he Insists that It's a problem with the server but noe with BT. I keep telling him that as my e mail address Is blah blah blah at btinternet.com... then It Is their fault.

The only way I have been able to do any work tonight and post this Is to phone my brother. Get him to hang up and then not hang up myself... And I still can't get my e mail.

I am so angry... what the feck Is going on ?

That has to be an exchange fault - the mail server neither knows nor cares whether your voice line is open, just the data path.

It sounds as though the exchange is dropping the data link whenever it drops the voice link and that is a line problem so BT rather than BTInternet - do a 151 and report a faulty line.

I never considered reporting a faulty line tbh because I assumed the broadband dropping out was to do with the broadband.

I reported the fault and they found two faults with our line. Within an hour we were back on and touch wood, It's remained stable so Thank you very much !!!

As for my e mail problem the guy who I reported the fault to said he'd get someone to ring me as we had so much trouble understanding the Indian gentlemen. So they rang me and a very nice man talked me through the troubleshooting windows mail.... that Is now resolved..

Thanks again Bryn.
