Dishwasher recall

Post by valerie »

It's for GE and Hotpoint dishwashers, sold from March 2006

through August 2009, the heating elements can fail and cause

fires (three of which have caused extensive damage) and you

should immediately disconnect the electrical supply.

Go to GE Safety Recall: product safety recall, consumer product safety recall, product recall for more info.

Hotpoint used to be British if I remember right, before GE bought the brand name for US sales. I expect they've been improved since those days. We sold the European brand name to a shady bunch of Italians I'd never heard of - perhaps they made an offer we couldn't refuse.

I had a paper plate once. And a spoon with prongs and a serrated edge, but maybe I made that up.

Nobody's that literal. Bruv's pointing out that a chap who can polish while keeping things soaking wet all the while is worth knowing, that's all.

I've been slowly recalling my first dishwasher. I was vacation working - though of course such words never entered my head at the time. In a canteen with a twenty foot conveyor and a huge Calgon hopper and stacking ridges to fill with plates and cutlery and suchlike, all of which went together into a train through the spray hood and it all came out too hot to touch so it would dry quick. I spent eight weeks clearing tables and loading that brute, I've never liked canteens or dishwashers since.
