It must have been hell

Post by spot »

During her life, Margie Geddes refused to speak to Betjeman's biographers about their friendship which was always thought to have been plutonic.

BBC News - Tom Brown's School Museum given Betjeman's love letters

Bloody illiterate twerp. The BBC news site editor, not Betjeman.

plutonic

An igneous rock that cooled and hardened below the earth's surface.

platonic

Not sexual in nature; platonic love: They are good friends, but the relationship is strictly platonic.

He's dead, Plato.

And Margie Geddes.

And, come to that, John Betjeman.

One day maybe the bloody news editor at the BBC website will be too and we can finally have proper proofreading.

Socrates on the other hand isn't dead, Socrates was a fictional character in Greek literature. He was, you might say, Platonic.

What am I meant to do? Check back every hour and then delete my thread if they edit their mistake?

They are inept tossers who would be unfit to edit a monthly church flier for a congregation of deaf dumb and blind arcade game fetishists.

Good lord no. As a subject of Her Majesty I, along with many others, currently own the BBC. How that spendthrift loadsamoney Thatcher was kept from cashing it in through privatizing it I'll never know but it's about the only bit of family silver left on my shelf, of course I'm going to support it.

Here we go again. Someone try to explain what on earth this gobbledegook means, I can extract absolutely no information from it whatever...10% of drivers have received parking fines over the last 12 months, with those hit paying out £340 - about £96 per offending driver.

BBC News - Parking attendants 'on the rise' across UK
