"Even people who don't know the past very well get thrilled by the idea that you've brought something back," he explained. "Everyone got very excited - and by everyone I mean real people - when the Master came back, even though most people could barely remember him."

Moffat concluded: "It has to be self-explanatory, it has to be free-standing, it has to be clear for everybody. If I did the Meddling Monk teaming up with Mavic Chen's daughter and the Krotons then yeah, that's too much, because no one gives a toss."

'Doctor Who' Steven Moffat rules out return for villain the Rani - Doctor Who News - Cult - Digital Spy

Actually no, Mr Moffat. If you did the Meddling Monk there'd be a cheer all around the planet, there must be a large fraction of the world population who vividly recall Peter Butterworth stood on the White Cliffs fending off the Norman invasion. As villains go, he was an archetype. And, don't forget, also a Time Lord.

As I remember, most of England, as they were watching, hoped he'd succeed. It takes quite a role to pull that off in the face of historical necessity.

I didn't start watching until Christopher Eccleston (and what a mad, conflicted Doctor Who he was... I loved him) so everything is new to me. I like it that way.

A high proportion of your posts are concerned with or about The BBC.

Are we supposed to give them the same credence ?

You are to absolutely and unreservedly believe everything I write, on the reasonable basis that I have invariably been correct on every occasion in the past.

As a young pup, the Cybermen scared me shitless.

Recently, the episodes with the stone statues that moved if you shut your eyes were good

Cheap's good too, it makes the effect all the more impressive if you can dress up as it for Christmas.
