How do they get away with it ?

Amazon: £7bn sales, no UK corporation tax

Could it be the people in power are all naive?

Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the announcement: "This is great news, not only for those individuals who will find work, but for the UK economy."

naive and stupid. haven't you heard the latest - you shouldn't tax the wealthy or discourage companies from making a profit as they are job creators, good grief they might pack up and leave.

I am surprised this thread has only 3 replies, the other I started at the same time about greatly over rated and grossly over priced iPhones has many more.

I suppose it says a lot about the present financial situation...........I can't work out what though.

I had read the thread and was going to reply but I was ordering myself a leather belt and chasing up a previous order. I love Amazon and use it a lot but the news that they don't pay corporation tax irritates the life outa me. Time to change the laws. If tax is good enough for me and thee it's good enough for the multinationals.

After all, Cameron likes to keep telling us that "we're all in this together"

Cameron praises the creation of a few jobs, forgetting about all the High st across the country that are slowly dieing due to the likes of Amazon.

And the cheeky so and so's can afford to organise their multinational supercalifragilistic world beating money creating mega store to avoid paying their dues................it is a crime

Do they pay that tax in the US?

I do use Amazon alot, can order things not easily available or at a lower price-like a high end set of violin strings I am waiting for, half the price on Amazon then to order from the music store.

The very wealthy have only recently (here anyway) begun calling themselves job "creators". That is because in using the word "creator" they are linking themselves, subliminally at least, with gods. They want us grateful. It is on purpose, and it is newspeak. They are playing with the language in very deliberate ways. It is our job to expose this whenever possible.

They'd buy us & sell us at the marketplace, if only they could.

We won't get a grip on the multinationals until we can get international law and regulatory bodies to inspect and enforce. Merely national governments simply don't have the ability. And you won't get China, India, Brazil, or the States agreeing to international inspection of their companies' books anytime soon.

And all sorts of clocks are ticking.
The crowd: "Yes! We are all individuals!"

All of the local stores are drying up as the world moves to ordering their lives online.

At some point we won't be able to order anything online because not only will our jobs have dried up but so will our unemployment income.

That will show them!
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.
