As I said In my new edition thread, today I became the proud owner of a 2 year old Bay Filly on the start of her racing career. ( One of ten owners )
This thread Is to post of her progress.
ANGELS CALLING
She's a good looking filly by Multiplex out of Angel Voices. Multiplex, by the prolific Danehill, was a high class miler for Andre Fabre and K Abdullah. The dam, Angel Voices, was a three time winner over 6-7f. There’s speed on both sides of the pedigree.. Angel Voices I s a half-sister to the prolific 6-7f winner Mandarin Spirit, multiple 6-8f winner Blythe Spirit & 6f 2yo winner Berezina; The 2nd dam, Lithe Spirit, was placed over 7f at three, and Is out of a half-sister to high-class 2yo milers Poteen and Bog Trotter.
She has just completed her 3 non handicap qualifying races and The Horse Racing Authority have awarded her handicap 55/180
There is a 0-65 nursery at Redcar on Sept 26th. There are more options in October. She has managed a 3rd place In her first race but didn't like the ground at Wolverhampton In her last run.

Oscar asked me to post this, she's tickled pink that her horse won by two and a half lengths in her latest race.

Day one....
Thank You Snooze, Snowstorm and Valerie.....
You know It's one thing to be a racehorse owner but another thing entirely to be an owner of a winning racehorse...
It was her first real race In racing terms after completing her three qualifying non handicap races.... she started 8/1 and was backed down on the day to 4/1 joint third favourite..
She seemed to benefit from the lighter weight after being awarded 55/180 by The Horse racing Authority but her performance was astonishing given the start of the race...
Out of stall 6 she was held up at the rear of the field and stuck behind other horses...... bearing In mind, a fast paced 6 furlong sprint Is over within approx 60 seconds, getting held up costs horses dear and few manage to regain the pace In a fast race...
Her jockey managed to get her clear and she just took off.... Drawing level with the leading group In the last two furlongs and Inside the last furlong, she just strode away running home In just under 3 lengths clear.
Then, really, what did anyone expect when her Grandfather Is the prolific 'Danehill'...
After the race, her trainer Kathy Burke was pleased that she had transferred what she can do at home on the gallops to the race course and said that on the day, on the track, Angels had shown " Serious Attitude " to the whole business....
Her next race Is at Hamilton Sunday, 6f, 0-75 nursery for 2 year olds....

The 14.20 race at Hamilton Park Sunday see's the anti betting sending Angels off at 5/2 favourite.... I'm thinking she has every chance here although entrant, Bogsnog' looks dangerous to her on form...as well as Delores rocket' but both are carrying 14 lbs heavier than her...

Yes... The horse Racing Authority can re-assess her handicap mark every Tuesday here... Smart trainers get another race In very quickly after a win before the handicap Is re-assessed as the case with Angels following her win being entered this Sunday...

So If Dobbin was rated 68 and Mister Ed 60, then Dobbin would carry eight pounds more weight In the race than Mister Ed (68-60=8). The specific weight they’d carry – as opposed to the relative weights would depend on who was the highest rated horse In the race.
The highest rated horse, who In this example could not be rated more than 70 , would generally carry 9-10 (nine stone ten pounds). The other horses, rated lower, would carry one pound less per ratings point below the highest rated.
Thus, Dobbin would be set to carry 9-08 (rated 68, two pounds below top rated/weighted), and Mister Ed would lug 9-0 (another eight pounds lower rated, and therefore weighted).

Just had some very exciting news today about Angel...
Her trainer withdrew her from the race yesterday as It was felt It was too soon after her blistering win last week...She may run at Haydock Park next week but the exciting news Is that a decision has been made today that she Is to be taken to race In France where the stakes are higher due to the Impressive form she's showing...... That's my girl.... get In there !!!! :guitarist:guitarist:guitarist

Regulations vary for un-registered and registered horses, both with regard to journey times and documentation. On top of the documentation requirements, quarantine, vaccination Implications and veterinary regulations vary so widely from country to country, and are subject to constant change.
If passports were the only thing needed, It would be a lot easier, but there is an amazing amount of bureaucracy, and every country Is different.
A vet always has to certify an animal to be fit with a journey
Transporting a horse by road Is something most owners do frequently, but moving It by air Is a different matter.
Horses are flown in “jet stalls, square, padded boxes that resemble a three-horse, forward-facing lorry. These can be adjusted to accommodate two or even one If necessary. Each shipment will have one professional flying groom who is certified with the Animal Air Transport Association (AATA) per three horses.
Racing conditions In France fall under the same rules and regulations as that of the UK as they are set by the EU.
UK horses will under-go the exact same stringent rules Including a vet check before and after the race.
The only difference In France Is the whipping regs In Flat racing. The UK Is you can only hit the horse 4 times In a race. In France the jockey can whip the horse 8 times providing the horse Is not clearly out of contention or clearly winning.

Day one....
After her win last week, Angels ran a s.hitter of a race today....
There was stiff competition and after the rain, the going was just way too soft for her liking. She seemed to really struggle this time out on such soft ground.

She will run at Ayr next week.... hopefully on firmer ground.

Day one....
What the expert said about her race:
"Angels Calling ran in a 6 furlong nursery at Haydock on Friday. The ground was very heavy and sticky making it very difficult for the horses to go thorough it. PJ McDonald took the ride and having broke smartly Angels travelled well in the race until the pace quickened around 2 furlongs out when the ground really took its toll and Angels just couldn’t pick her hooves up. PJ wasn’t hard on her and allowed her to finish in her own time."
Karl Burke her trainer said afterwards that " she had come in her coat so she might have gone over the top and more than likely that was her last run of the season. She is growing all the time and being a late foal is still a bit weak and will definitely be stronger next year. "
