Best Democracy Money Can Buy

Post by koan »

Will anyone on Wall Street be charged with a crime? Will any reforms be brought in to keep the people found to be guilty by the commission from doing it again? They were found responsible yet no one went to court on charges.

Will Romney decrease regulation even though the current regulation isn't strong enough? Will either of them increase regulation and choke off their own campaign money?

I think William Black should be put in charge of a committee to re-establish faith in the financial institutions.

If you listen to the Republican arguments, it is all Clinton's fault for wanting middle class folks to own their own houses. His administration put pressure on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to pressure the banks into making loans they didn't want to make. The banks and financial houses were forced to do his evil bidding. The phony stock derivatives and the shady business practices on Wall St. never happened. It was the liberal media that invented all that to help promote socialism and wealth sharing. Pay no attention to facts and numbers, just blame all those liberals.

So, to answer your questions, no, no, it all depends on how much control the Republicans have in congress, and no.

The Bill Moyers program with William Black gives a really good basic outline of all the main problems of the Wall Street systemic fraud.

It's a three year old program but... you know... Black has been trying to force regulation for a long time now.

But the Republicans are not going to go off-script because of a Bill Moyers program. They will simply call it liberal propaganda and continue to block any accountability on Wall St (who donate to them lavishly).
