I think my first thoughts on this when the story was on the news last night was ' The dead can't sue '.

The witness's that have come forward seem genuine enough but who's to say?

Yes they are saying that it would have been difficult to come forward when he was alive, although I think one or two did and weren't believed.

I don't think anyone would be actually surprised given the history of celebs who have abused children such as Johnathon King and Gary Glitter but It doesn't follow through that there's any truth In the allegations.

I'm still of an open mind.

No clue at all. He always seemed creepy to me but that doesn't make him guilty.

I remember watching Jim'll Fix it at the weekends with the family. Those awful tracksuits lol I never felt inclined to write in, it always struck me as embarrassing to be sat in the studio with him. I only watched it because Mum did, if there had been a remote control and I'd been in charge of it (no way when Mum was in lol) I would have turned over :wah:

One can only be of an open mind until evidence is brought to life. I can imagine some people demand he be dug up

I was thinking particularly about PantoAndy. He would have dug him up just to hang him

If the allegations are true it matters to the victims.

How so? The guy is dead and gone. He can't serve time, he can't be executed, and he can't even apologize.

The stuff happened forty years back. Why wait 'til he's dead for all this to come out.

Mind you, this is the first I have heard of the guy, and none of this means anything to me, at all. I am just curious.

He was credited, in the 60's, for doing what most dj's now take for granted. Using two record decks to, more or less, seamlessly play music at a disco. He was one of the mainstays for our most popular weekly pop programmes through the 60's and 70's. He was a pro wrestler, a marathon runner but mostly a very strange eccentric man

Savile was something of a cultural icon and well known children's tv presenter amongst other things. We have had a culture where child abuse was something that didn't happen "in the good old days" in reality nobody talked about it, children making allegations were often not believed. Recently there had been the scandal of paedophile priests in both our countries and it's the same phenomenon people didn't want to listen and the shame was on the victim. You really need to bring these things out, Sadly there is still the possibility it will happen, if you are a child where do you turn if the adults around you are not to be trusted? It;s like any form of traumatic experience sometimes it's only years later you can talk about it or come to appreciate the effect it had on your life.

Some things just need to be said out loud.

There is also of course the issue of those who knew about his activities and did nothing about it.

There are far more reaching ramifications to this than the allegations.

I decided to reserve judgement until some more facts had been published and now after all that's come out, I am convinced he was Indeed a child abuser.

The witness's that have come forward are not skank chavs looking for a buck, they are decent people In professional jobs who have moved on with their lives but they seem to be able to back up dates and times with photographs.

More and more celebrities have come out of the woodwork now and confessed they knew It was going on but feared him.

There was an Interview with a 70's DJ who I just can not remember and can not find a link now who was on TV the other night saying that the BBC knew what was happening and when they approached him about It, Savile threatened to withdraw all funding to the Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

Yes, he's dead and gone but there are far more aspects that need to be considered. He was Knighted so he needs to be Posthumously stripped of that Knighthood but far more urgently, they need to Investigate every damn lying BBC chief who knew It was happening and allowed It to continue to allow him to continue working with children and for TV ratings.
