This makes me sick... meanwhile our pensioners struggle to pay heating bills, child benefit Is cut, people are having their homes re-possessed and some schools struggle to buy books.
Rehabilitation of young offenders Is making them realise the Impact their actions have had on their victims so how does this do that?
It's disgusting when the offender has more rights than the victim.

Children behind bars: The young rapists, arsonists and knife thugs at Britain's forgotten jails | Mail Online
It's about Vinney Green, a secure unit and Is situated on the other side of the field outside my house.
On occasions when I have helped my Turkish pals out, I have delivered food to Vinney Green on a Friday night when the In mates get the choice of a Kebab, Piza, burger etc etc... so I have seen Inside the unit and It's better than some hotels I've stayed In.
Because It's so close to my home, I know some of the people who work there and I've been told by different sources that some of the young offenders who come from deprived backgrounds have actually deliberately re-offended just to get sent back there upon their release because life Is so cushy In there.... That I can believe.

There was this mother watching her son's passing out parade.
As the troops passed her, they were all going
...........................left-right-left-right-left-right
Her son was going
............................right-left-right-left-right-left
She was beside herself and shouted for all to hear "Look my son is the only one who is marching correctly"

Too much emphasis Is put on the young criminal and not enough on the victim of protection of the public when they are released. All we hear Is how Little Johnny had a deprived upbringing and was abused. Well my husband was beaten throughout his childhood by a cruel and sadistic Father who also beat his Mother black and blue, he didn't turn Into a thug, quite the opposite.
Do you think that a Father sitting In court listening to how his child was murdered and then hear the Judge give his killer just 4 years, out In two, feels satisfied with the system or does he feel let down ?
With almost half (47%) of adults released from prison being reconvicted within a year, and those rates rising to 57% for those serving shorter sentences, finding plausible ways to reduce recidivism has proved an elusive goal for campaigners and policymakers.

The abolition of borstals in 1983 by Margaret Thatcher’s government left a black hole in the youth justice system.
Many people (including London Mayor Boris Johnson) consider the unique combination of hard work, self-improvement and rigid discipline was far more effective than the young offender institutions that replaced them, and which seem to offer a daily diet of snooker and television shows on wide-screen plasma TVs.

So, the abolition of Borstals has had no effect on re-offenders and many argue that the easy life offenders now have have contributed to re-offending.... the part everyone seems to forget Is every time someone reoffends, It means another victim.

Blame Maggie Thatcher - she was the one that abolished them.
I might add di more to destroy the fabric of british society than any prime minister, something went out of the Uk in the thatcher years, a spirit of caring was lost greed became king and yuppies an aspirational figure for the mentally challenged. Most of the problems we have now with the re-regulation of the banks, rising fuel prices etc etc can be traced back to starting with her. If you have no prospect of a job or a future where you can see yourself actually being able to support a family all that is left is nihilism.
