Keep sipping flat coke or lemonade, better than just water whilst you can't eat.
I took your advice and had a couple of glasses of lemonade... fortunately I had some lemons in the house... and I feel MUCH better. Sorry YZGI, I think I'm gonna live after all.

Agreed, I was just gently teasing but I guess some people might consider it a form of bullying. You just never know. I'd hate to cause someone to have suicidal thoughts.

Hillary Clinton Cancels Middle East Trip Because Of Stomach Virus
Hillary Clinton's Middle East trip canceled due to ill health - CSMonitor.com
It's a nasty virus and we've had a mini epidemic of it here with some people so ill they've been taken into hospital. It would explain why she looks tired but i still take my hat off to her for carrying on as she did with her commitments. I'm sure she'll soon bounce back and be her usual self.

Inflammatory in what way?
No one has accused you of baiting anyone. No one has said that you cannot express an opinion.
Betty's post was in response to the baiting that is going on here and to the personal attacks which have been present - more a referee asking the boxers to "keep it clean" than anything else. No-one wants to stop discussion or the expression of an opinion but both sides need to respect the right of the other to hold their opinion.
As a general principle people don't need to beat another poster over the head with a blunt club until they submit, it's a discussion not a competition. Up to now this thread has not approached that stage but it was starting to look as though it might, hence Betty's comment.

What about Chris Christie's weight problem? What would you rather have, Hillary's tired eyes & pony tail (it is her daughter Chelsea insisted she grow her hair) or CC's humongous waistline? Assuming they had the same politics, of course.
If she was a bloke her face show experience as a woman it shows she's old. Luckily in the UK we like eccentrics and funny looking people the best you can say about some of ours is that they are unbraw.
Not sure why Christie was posted by AnneB & the connection between Hillary & Christie? Are they related ?
Is AnneB. related to Christie?
Patsy
Why would I be related to Christie? Just posing the question I posed which was: "What about Chris Christie's weight problem? What would you rather have, Hillary's tired eyes & pony tail (it is her daughter Chelsea insisted she grow her hair) or CC's humongous waistline? Assuming they had the same politics, of course. "
I'm not even from NJ! We watch the same broadcast news is all. :yh_bigsmi

Oh no he ain't! I heard a sneak preview (or whatever you call it on radio) that Barbara Walters is supposed to ask him why he's so fat and if he thinks people will vote for a fat guy for president! :yh_rotfl
This thread is whether Hillary will run - should run etc.
I thought the prior comments cleared that up from betty boop & Bruv.
Merry Christmas to every one - fat and simply ugly.
Patsy
Let me state in a gentlemanly fashion in advance Patsy that my curiosity bears no baiting or bullying, just a curiosity as to what " Merry Christmas to every one - fat and simply ugly." exactly means. Do you mean members here or past US presidents?

If not Hilary who else is there likely to run?
There was William Gladstone, who retired from his second term in 1894 at the age of 84 and Mr Churchill who was nearly 77 and the second oldest prime minister in history. The largest member of parliament was Cryil Smith while the strangest looking member was Robin Cook. The title of most deranged must be Thatcher.
That was to a reply I found confusing to what Taft - Christie etc. has to do with Hillary running for Pres. or not..?
I do wish every one a Happy Holiday.
Do you think Hillary will run for Pres.? that is what this thread is about.
Patsy I saw no confusion, the connection was perfectly within the context of the thread in that candidates can't be judged on appearance and Christie was the perfect example. As for possibilities who else is there more experienced for the job other than Hilary despite her age or appearance? If Hilary doesn't run then myself, i'd like to see Joe Biden, possibly Kirsten Gillibrand or Deval Patrick who seems to draw comparisons to Obama. With the exception of Biden despite his age, i feel others lack the drive and commitment Hilary has.

Balance: Barbara Walters Chats With Hillary Clinton About Hair, Grills 'Overweight' Christie | NewsBusters.org
[Clip]
WALTERS: Okay, governor. I feel very uncomfortable asking this question when I'm sitting opposite you. But you are a little overweight.
CHRIS CHRISTIE: More than a little.
WALTERS: Yeah?
CHRISTIE: Yeah.
WALTERS: Why?
CHRISTIE: If I could figure that out, I'd fix it.
WALTERS: There are people who say you couldn't be president because you're so heavy. What do you say to them?
CHRISTIE: That's ridiculous. I mean, that's ridiculous. I mean, I don't know what the basis for that is.
WALTERS: I think they're worried about your health.
CHRISTIE: Well, I've done this job pretty well and I think people watched me for the last number of weeks in Hurricane Sandy doing 18 hour days and getting right back up the next day and still being just as effective in the job. So, I don't think that would be a problem.
Perhaps Barbara will ask Hillary about her hair styles - or lack of..:-3
Yup, she does.
[clip from Most Fascinating People of 2012]
WALTERS: So, I have to ask you this very personal question. Your hair?
[Clinton laughs.]
HILLARY CLINTON: I know that it's one of the great fascinations of our time.
WALTERS: Absolutely.
CLINTON: Much to my amazement.
WALTERS: People said to me, "Are you interviewing the Secretary of State?" I said, "Yes. What should I–" "Ask her about her hair."
CLINTON: Well, I do not travel with any hair dresser and I'm not very competent myself. I've been admitting that for years, which should be obvious to everyone. It just got to be really burdensome to try and find a hair dresser in some city, somewhere. So, I just said, "Enough. We're going to try and go with as simple as possible."
Perhaps Barbara will ask Hillary about her hair styles - or lack of..:-3
And maybe the Pres. in a wheel chair (Roosevelt) wouldn't of been Pres. but it was difficult to see him thru a radio.
Maybe Lincoln wouldn't of been shot in the head had he been shorter.
I'm sure this thread was about Hillary - but what do I know..?
Patsy You'll have to excuse me Patsy but i'm left wondering the contradictions in your posts. In a prior post you asked weather anyone thought Rick Perry would run and i offered some alternatives in my previous post. Now it appears we are back to the thread being about Hilary alone and you wish we only discuss her. In relation to Accountable's post, i've also read another site where Hilary says her daughter recommended the pony tail although what her hairstyle has to do with running for presidency is beyond me. Hilary is right Accountable, if she were a man, she'd never be asked such a thing.
I mentioned Hillary - was tired & I mentioned her hair style or lack of
I mentioned I don't believe Hillary has the energy to run for Pres. I think she's tired.
Then the thread turned to a variety..?
I then mentioned Barbara W. will be interviewing Hillary - maybe she'll answer whether she'll run for Pres. - I was told it would be early too announce
I did like your mention of Joe Biden running - not sure on his age.
If Hillary did decide to run - she'd be @ 70 + at the time she took office - I don't believe that would happen.
There's no doubt Hillary is very well educated & very prepared for the challenge.
There comes a time to step back - we all have to retire at some point. I stated she look worn and not put together during public appearances & was ripped apart for a opinion.
Although rules are you have to be 35 yrs old to run for Pres. - I don't think there's a age too old for Pres. is there?
We'll have to see who steps up to the plate for the challenge.

Patsy Hilary being fit to take office at 70 is no different to the possibility of Joe Biden taking office at 70, the suggestion that you liked. Reagan was 69 when taking office.
Patsy Warnick;1412575 wrote: As I said - not sure on Joe's age - so thank you for that.
I don't think Hillary will run - she should be wanting something - any thing but politics.
Is there a age cut off for too old to be Pres.?
I don't think there is..? maybe there should be..?
At what age is too old for Pres.?
Patsy Why would Hilary consider anything but politics? It's her field of expertise and perfectly fluent for someone in her position to aim for the highest accolade of her field. Most people don't spend years working for a company, striving for promotion, rising through the ranks and then give up when they are in a position for director. You say you don't think there is a cut off to be too old to be president yet throughout this thread you've stated Hilary is tired and old. I'm struggling to get through the contradictions here. Is it that Hilary is too tired and old to run or is it that you think age should be no barrier? With age comes wisdom and experience and if i were to spend time reading up on the subject i'm sure i'd find that voters tend to feel more reassurance in voting in elder candidates who have the experience to deal with complexities of running a country. There can be no better candidate than a former secretary of state who has spent the last years mopping up the ramifications of an aggressive Bush administration which the exception of Biden.
I doubt the American public would elect another Democrat after a two term Dem president. I think Christie's got a good shot at the job although I really like Huntsman.

I dunno ... we elected Daddy Bush after two terms of Reagan. If the economy can overcome all the obstacles Washington's thrown in front of it, President Obama can take credit and might be able to name his successor. It's possible.
Having a straight-talker like Christie would be a nice change.
I'm sure after Thatcher was first pictured riding a tank and receiving world acclaim including being dubbed for ever after as " The iron lady", Dukakis believed he'd canvass the same accolade only to find the reverse. To the voters and world stage, a woman leader riding a tank is a sign of strength but a man riding a tank is an aggressive warmonger.
"...a man riding a tank is an aggressive warmonger." Wrong guy, Peter, that was the hilarity of Dukakis in that pic, as he was the opposite, a man accused of being wimpy.

Yup. It was putting the school nerd in tough-guy clothes. I guess clothes don't make the man after all. :wah:
So Hillary should be concerned about those photo ops and how they come across because the American electorate does make unfair judgments based on them?
Do I think she should have to be? Hell no... on her worst day she is more glamorous than me on my best.
Are these the shots that will be featured in every republican ad? You betcha.
Will Americans be influenced by it? Hell yeah, we've proved it time and again.
Is it fair? Hell no.
Should Team Hillary(if she plans to run) be anticipating this? Hell yeah.
Personally I like that she doesn't give a rats ass. But it will cost her.

I didn't realise that was the case Anne, i see, so he was ridiculed for trying to be the hard man? Whereas the world was already aware that Thatcher had testicles.

There's a difference between the opponents using bad photos of her in their campaign and someone announcing she's 'done' and should be put out to pasture because she looks tired and has dull skin. A big difference. Should I give my reasoning? The opponents still see her as a rival that could challenge their champion, the other just thinks she's a worn out old woman with no future.
