Let's Have A Bit Of Fun!
Let's rewind our lives ... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzst! We are now choosing a career.
Would you go the same route? I know I wouldn't. I've spend my whole life going to the office in a suit and sitting behind a desk from 9 to 5. So I would like to be a construction worker or work in a vehicle assembly plant ... maybe a welder, mechanic, anything outdoors where I could go to work in blue jeans and a vest. Get myself a cool tattoo on each bicep and wear a tool belt! Sooooo coohil! Go to a bar after work and maybe ask the guy across the room ... "Are you looking at me?"
What career would YOU choose?

Not sure JJ
I've dedicated my life to caring for others and working in the medical field I was never unemployed.
I couldn't afford unemployment since I've been out on my own since I was 17 yrs. old.
I had a opportunity to be a flight attendant back in the 70's for United airlines - stupid me I thought I'd miss my family etc.
Now I see I could've seen the world & what a great experience that would be.
Now a tattoo - I might get my 1st tat - I'd like a ankle charm bracelet..?
of course the pain of it - well I'm still thinking about it...:-3
Good topic JJ

I know JJ. I want you to have your fun! I just can't join in.

I'm one of those people whose inherent talents & interests don't have any job market value. I was a Liberal Arts major but never used it in my work. After I graduated, I never pursued getting my teaching credentials with the state and what I thought was going to be a temporary summer job after college ended up being an over 2 decade stay.
If I could do it over? I'd love to have dropped out of school and spent my entire life on one never ending road trip. How would it be financed? Who knows but if I have to make it practical, it's no longer my fantasy!

Given the cards that I was dealt I am not sure that I could have changed anything and over all I am pleased with the two major careers that I had during my working life as both were emotionally, financially and intellectually rewarding.
I enjoy history and have often thought that it would have been interesting to teach history on the university level.

my love has always been traveling & I really don't care where - all is a adventure.
My husband & I travel frequently - my point
We met a older lady who had traveled everywhere - traveled on her own.
I have to give her alot of credit as she traveled alone - she would stay in a Hostel.
I didn't even know what a hostel was.
she was so interesting.
so traveling for you can still be accomplished & affordable?

I must have given the wrong impression, Patsy but I appreciate the encouragement. We can and do travel but my response to JJ's question was in the spirit of not committing myself to a demanding job, throwing caution to the wind and spending my life as a modern gypsy! I wasn't expressing a longing for travel as much as I suppose it was a throwing away of responsibilities and caution and embracing a lack of restraint and/or practicality.

If I could go back, I'd forego my Air Force career and my Food Service career both (they were interesting and gave me much needed experience, but in the end I didn't enjoy either of them) and go straight to teaching right out of college. I'd be retired by now!
( I also would have married my high school girlfriend...maybe she'd still be alive then.)
