What's the Volcano Story?

Post by flopstock »

I keep seeing this in the news over here and I haven't seen any discussion of it on FG.

I see they are attempting to open up some flights. Has this affected day to day routines in the countries affected or is it just irate passengers that are being spotlighted to try and up the ratings over here?
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano eruption could go on !

No air travel over most of northern Europe for the past few days due to a cloud of ash at normal flying height.

It prevented me from seeing Gil Scott-Heron on stage this evening, on account of him being unable to get out of the States, which has left me kicking my heels somewhat. That's far more important than tourists not being able to get home.

A group of British teachers came over to my school district last week, and the volcano delayed their return. Why, they get to come back here again tomorrow for the whole day and we're taking them to lunch. :)

You're looking at someone who is forced to contend with the 11 year old for news channel time.

But quiz me about the latest teen heart throbs, I'm all over it. :p

I can relate to that. But the 8 year old here dug out maps of Iceland, followed European weather patterns, googled volcanoes - and all this without prompting. He has trouble pronouncing the volcano's name, but is working on that.

HE has trouble? I thought BM was having me on there for a moment earlier:yh_rotfl

My company has 3 radio stations and I don't think I've heard them try and pronouce it once. The news all seems travel related and I couldn't help feeling there must be more.

Phonetically, I believe it is :- Eye yaff yalla yokull = Eyafjallajokull

But somebody please feel free to correct me if I am wrong ! ;) :D

And now he's dead. That's a shock.

I'm surprised nobody made any comment. He has a colossal reputation in the UK, was he obscure and ignored in the US?

I saw the report whilst I was away and incommunicado but yes, greatly saddened.

I was listening to this earlier, I thought I'd post it. He really did have a way with an audience.
