Gym or Home Gym?

Such a pain to fight traffic and parking, but it can be very motivational being around others pushing themselves.

Gym or Home Gym?

Post by flopstock »

Has to be the gym.

I have a bike at home that could be broken - for all I know.

When I go to the gym, I see other ladies my age plugging away at the same seemingly unattainable goal and I am pushed to keep trying.:-6
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

No gym.

I stay as active outdoors as time & weather will allow.

Neither.

Why use a cycle machine rather than a cycle?

Why use a treadmill rather than go for a walk / jog / run?

Why use weights? Dig the garden :-)

ETA - I hope you don't mind, I've added a poll to the thread to keep track.

^ agreed^

After doing the sports thing in highschool and college, I can't stand working out just for the sake of working out. I will play basketball, cut wood, rototill the garden etc. etc. till I can't hardly stand up I'm so tired. But I refuse to work out.

Well let me clarify a bit.

A gym or a home gym....

.....because the weather does not permit outside activity or at least severely limits it. But hey, if you enjoy a kettle bell routine on the lawn in a raging blizzard at 20 below, choose the "I only workout outdoors" option.

When I was being treated for frozen shoulder, most of the exercises at the physical therapy place involved ropes and pulleys or heavy elastic bands attached to a floor to ceiling mounting system that screws into the wall. I ordered one. It sticks out about 2 inches from the wall. I also have an elliptical machine that has a WiFi connection and allows me to put in any course from Google Maps. It adjusts incline and resistance according to where I am on a topographic map.

My home "gym" works well in bad weather, but the best exercise is having a large dog who likes to play and go for long walks in the woods.

Luckily I don't live in the Arctic and raging blizzards are a rarity in these parts :-)

BTW, What's a kettle bell? I tend to use an aerator on the lawn - good exercise for the shoulders and lower back.

Gym-I go 6-7 days a week, just for a 45 minute workout (usually before school). Mostly bike for my knee to limber up, and some elliptical. Otherwise, I go to kung fu 3-4 times a week, always nice to work out in a group. Actually I am back to sparring again, on a different method of martial arts. I have the advantage of kicking them, they don't kick alot. But disadvantage of hand movement, since TKD didn't do much but block and punch. So I got popped in the nose first time, since the master put me with the high level belts just to see whats up. LOL But the kicks surprised them, I haven't lost that ability. :)

Lots of stuff to do at home if you don't like to go to the gym, great exercise DVDs now days.

A little racquetball to feed the competitive spirit, the elliptical to keep the knee's strong, treadmill for heart rate, weight pile for the endorphins, bags and pads for MMA......

......bowflex and bands at home for those much needed breaks from the monitors.

Good for you chonsigirl and the martial arts..good for body, mind, and soul!
