I was asked by the police Tuesday night to start up a Neighbourhood Watch In my area.
What are your thoughts?
It seems to have come a long way since first Introduced and looks to be now, a far bit of work Involved..

Neighbourhood Watch...
We have neighborhood watch
The guy organizing is busy - holds meetings at his house - goes around door to door introducing himself & handing out signs etc.
It's a good thing - and all our neighbors know our vehicles & our routine etc. as we know their vehicles & routine.
To be the one organizing this could involve some work & time at the beginning but should taper off in time.
I know if my neighbor is sick - she didn't put her flag out - she lives alone & I will check one her and visa versa.
It's a good thing

Some years ago we lived in an urban neighborhood and a neighbor tried to start a Neighborhood Watch thingy. They invited a Police Officer and all the neighbors to their home. It was interesting. In my estimate the Police Officer was not only well spoken about the law, but just darn common sense.
What was really most important, I got to meet neighbors who lived more than a couple of houses down the road.
Knowing your neighbors is a big plus. I always introduce myself when I move to a new place.
There is no reason, with or without Neighborhood Watch to not know your immediate neighbors.
Neighborhood Watch is what you make of it. You know best what you want. Back then when I went to the meeting, nothing really happened. We lived in a "low crime" neighborhood and unspoken we just agreed to keep an eye on each other, your mileage may vary.
We now live in a small city, 100 or so people. Enter the town there is a useless Neighborhood Watch sign. We have no formal Neighborhood Watch.
We just do what neighbours are suppose to do,

What happened to Kamala Harris' campaign?
She had the black vote all locked up.
