Anyone here ever seen a pink lake? Some of these look like large pools of Pepto-Bismol! I'm sure the aerial views are more striking than being onshore and looking out onto the lake as far as color is concerned.

They're kind of horrifying, actually. One photo described some salt gatherers having to lather their bodies in shea butter so the 40% salt content of the water doesn't peel their skin off. Well, they didn't actually say "peel their skin off" but "pickled" would probably work.

I don't see them as horrifying, just visual surprises! They're natural occurrences and # 3's description says it's very healthy for skin & lungs. I'm sure it depends on the concentration of the salt and/or algae in each one.
