Just been told In neighing circles that should Mad Moose refuse to start the race for a 4 th time, he will be banned from racing... I don't know why but I find that quite funny.

It also knocks Into a cocked hat those who claim horses are ' forced to race'.... errrr nope, not this one

So... to those who think horses are forced to race.... Mad Moose at Cheltenham In March.... I don't know why but I find the antics of this horse hysterically funny...

Can't wait to see what he decides to do at Punchestown...

Post made tonight by Punchestown race course.

The Raiders Have Arrived At Punchestown

Sprinter Sacre, Long Run, Captain Chris and a team of British trained horses have arrived at Punchestown in advance of tomorrows opening day of the 2013 Irish National Hunt Festival.

This is possibly the strongest ever UK contingent to be sent to the Irish jump racing showpiece as revenge is sought for a record breaking 14 Irish winners at this year’s Cheltenham Festival.

Leading the British campaign is the Nicky Henderson trained Sprinter Scare and Long Run. Trainers Paul Nicholls, Philip Hobbs, David Pipe, Rebecca Curtis, Kim Bailey and Harry Fry are among those bidding to claim some of the €2.2 million in prize money on offer over the five days.

Sarah Shreeve, Travelling Head Girl for Nicky Henderson, commented on their runners by saying “All our horses have travelled over from Lambourn very well. They all ate up their feeds since they arrived. We went for a light trot and canter this morning and appear to be in great form so we are looking forward to the week ahead.

Tomorrows feature race the €200,000 Boylesports.com Champion Chase is at 5.30pm and will be Sprinter Sacre’s first race in Ireland. He will face a total of four competitors including last year’s winner Sizing Europe.

Just all come home safe .

Punchestown Races...

Post by Oscar Namechange »

Most people not Into horse racing have the firm belief that It's all about money... how wrong they are... The same as some marvel at the top of the range car or an athlete, we marvel at equine athletes.

This was proved today when Punchestown race course announced record figures of those attending day one. The main attraction was Sprinter Sacre. The bookies were taking no chances and the best price available was 1/9 easing out to 1/10.

As he entered the parade ring, we even saw other jockeys rushing out from rest rooms to get a sight of him.

As posts flooded the news feed on facebook today, It was clear that no-one could actually bet on him at that price but It was all about admiring the sheer magnificance of this equine athlete.

What Is astonishing Is the this horse Is the freak result of a bizzare mix up when the wrong mare was sent to the stud. As a result, he was put In a job lot of 25 that Minty, Henderson's buyer bought up. The result was a gigantic beast, a freak of nature now firmly labelled ' The Black Areoplane'.

It wasn't a foregone conclusion today. It's a big ask for any horse to run at the Cheltenham Festival, The Aintree Festival and The Punchestown Festival In the space of just 6 weeks. Due to this, we knew we wern't going to see a 19 length victory as we did In the Queen Mother Champion Chase. The only possible contender was Sizing Europe one of the fastest horses In training.

Sprinter Sacre became the first horse to win at all 3 Festivals In one season since Istabraq. Cheltenham and Aintree just 2 weeks ago really took their toll but It was an easy win over Sizing Europe barely off the bridle and no whip drawn, just a slap In the final stages from Barry. Unlike other greats such as Kauto Star, Sprinter Is effortless and entirely without error In now a perfect 10 from 10 starts.

Winning Accumulator reduced to a winning treble after Solwhit was withdrawn at the start of the race when the Jockey noticed blood on the nostrils. Course Vets were happy for him to go but his jockey said No.

Small pay out due to the odds on prices but pay day all the same.
