Yup.

Iowa is definitely Mid-West.

Though you don't often hear of the really extreme weather happening in Iowa.

That is one nasty looking cloud, which I suspect had bad intentions.

I'd love to see something like that in person but only if the wind was at my back.

Yup. When you see that electric blue in the clouds, it usually means somebody is gonna get some serious weather.

Apparently several twisters, heavy rain and flooding.

My nephew and his family are stuck on I-35.

And St Louis, MO is reported to have a tornado, as well. That system is on its way to Champaigne, IL

Apparently, a lot of folks decided to run from the nadoes which caused a traffic jam on I-40 and the nado took some of the cars and people out in the traffic jam.

Also some seasoned tornado chasers were killed when their car was hit.

That was a rough day.

It was Yesterday morning before all my family was accounted for.

One nephew had run off Moab for a few days and didn't bother checking in until yesterday.

Well, in his defense, he got there the week before and was out riding some back trails where they have yet even heard of cell phones.

He didn't hear about it until he got back to town Sunday.

But he never even told anyone he was going. He just went.

His mom is P O'd still.

That's fantastic. I just can't imagine what a tornado is like to go through. As a kid I remember watching the wizard of oz and to me the most unbelievable bit was the idea that the wind could be strong enough to pick up a house - I was a kid at the time.

I watched a show the other night called "Mile wide tornado" it had amazing footage, some remarkable stories and some very sad stories. It was a great and compelling to watch.

I think you can watch it here:
