the old saying, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" is a load of crap.

what doesn't kill you makes you more cynical and cold.

you go from out going and fun; to cold, emotionally shut down, and withdrawn.

you look at everything with suspicion.

so that one day when something great comes along, you don't recognize it for what it is.

W...i have been wondering where you've been. i can relate to what you are saying, can you say what brought it on? i will tell you this...you want to be a cop, there is nothing else that will feed that cynicism and hardness like that job. it stole my soul. almost.

A little bit of healthy cynicism can be a good thing. Don't let it get you down. It's good to see you post again, btw.

It's not what happens to you or what people do that get you down, it's how you decide to deal with it. Nulle Illegitimo Carborundum or some such made up pretentious latin phrase. (don't let the bastards get you down)

Oh Wolverine....I disagree. You can choose to be more cynical and cold and not recognize the good things OR you can say Yea - I dodged that bullet and FIDO.

Everything you do, think, feel, react to, form opinions about, theyre all choices. You make a 1000 decisions a day. Most times its easier to feel crappy than it is to put the time, effort and work into manipulating your world into what you wish it to be. Its not a given that if something crappy happens to you you will feel automatically crappy. Its a conditioning and laziness.

There you are, all prepared to have a great time, relax , unwind...and from nowhere a porta potty gets emptied on your head.

and in that moment before you shake it off and head for the shower, you are forced to acknowledge that 'sh!t' happens.

but there's a good chance it won't happen tomorrow too. Or at least if it does, it may happen to the guy next to you.

great big port-o-potty. been sitting in the sun for days.

it's my own damn fault that it happened. walked right into it.

i saw what i wanted to "see" when it wasn't there to begin with.

just one thing after another it keeps piling up. I am not very good at sorting it out. so rather than confront whatever it is, i let it sit and fester.

then i bury myself in work so i don't have time to think about it.

yeah, how healthy is that.

two Friggin years. and still not over "it."

tried to be. thought i had something to help. but NOPE.

no matter what i try, it always seems to blow up in my face.

frustrating is all.

Without knowing what it is that is bringing you down, Wolverine, it's difficult to know best how to help you. But, whatever it is, you have plenty of support here.

Two years, but time may heal you yet. Just take one day at a time, put yesterday behind you because you can't change what's happened. And remember, none of us are infallible. Who can say they don't have even one regret.

sounds like relationship thing to me too.... but i may be jumping to conlusions awfully quickly with that....

wolvie i dont think nomad was saying your lazy, hes right it is easier to let things get you down, the hardest thing is to fight them and turn them into your advantage, its not a laziness thing its more about having the strength of mind, something EVERYONE suffers with at some point, definitely me but in the end the most important thing is you come out on top

are we allowed to know what its about hon? i know it can be kinda odd posting personal things and if your dads still around looking/posting etc i guess that could make it harder......

just remember your not alone, everyone goes through blips, you will come out the other side

burying yourself in work really isnt the answer though.....
life is what you make it

um..... well thats a bit out of date! im married now! and married life is the best thing in the entire world! with my husband by side my life is complete
