The worrying quote from the report, for me, is :-

"We wouldn't want to mandate any screening that would potentially exclude transplantable organs."

So they'd prefer not to know that they're about to kill another recipient?

I would think that screening organs for anything that could potentially kill the recipient would be their highest priority!

Eh. You transplant the organ, THEN deal with the residual diseases that might result.

Simple, no?

Havn't been on the forum for a year, been a bit absent..

But shame this happend, they should have tested for every condition before they did any kind of transplant. Human error i hate to say..

So some sort of medical screening should be done when potential donor dies, and perhaps some tagging of the spare parts might be necessary.

For instance, if the donor was HIV positive, then there should be some way for the potential recipient to make the choice.

If I was HIV Positive, then receiving an organ from another HIV pos donor would be acceptable, I think. However, I don't think I would want to trade one problem for another.

But then, I am pretty certain that I would not want to go the route of receiving an organ to extend my life at this point.
