Spring Cleaning

Does anyone still do this?

My Mother always did the spring cleaning around March but I do mine around now ready for Christmas.

Curtains and blinds come down for cleaning, walls are washed, cupboards turned out and cleaned. etc etc

I guess I would say I do sort of a mini spring cleaning,

usually involving change of decor, and I 'get' why

people do it, air is warmer, light is better, you can open

windows etc. but I pretty much for the last 40 years do

way more of a fall cleaning. You're going to be cooped

up inside for months, holidays coming, and just seems

to me to make more sense to get the interior cleaner

when you've got to sit there and look at it! Tomorrow,

we are supposed to have really warm weather, so the

girl dog is headed to day care and I think I'll do the

last whole house carpet clean of the year. Feel for me,

the machine is heavy and I've got 1900 sq. feet to do! ;)

I'm actually trying to take a couple of days off next week to do my fall cleaning. Of course that is usually the only time I bother cleaning..:D
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

Yep I do the big spring clean . Never used to until I had a fire place. The soot and dust builds up on everything no matter how much you dust. Once the fire goes off for the year that's when it begins.

Shampooing carpets was something I loathed with a passion.

A few years ago I realised that I had always had dogs and would always have dogs so I ripped the lot up and replaced them with slate quarry tiles In every room.

Many people told me I was mad and that tiles In a lounge wasn't the done thing but my cleaning Is a world of difference to how It used to be. All I need now Is a broom and a mop and bucket every day or for accidents.

Good luck.

I had a huge clean out this year to the point that folks around here thought I was moving house. Seriouslythis was a conversation had the other month.

"we've got new pages but there's none left so you'll have to go to headquarters to get one".........a pause......"you need one don't you? it's just that someone said you'd moved . You know what the rumour mill is like around here". ...I'm thinking why would anyone think I moved house?...........oh yeah the rubbish ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Once the boys had gone I had no need for three couches and six mattressess and 6 billion and 3 books, bikes and so on. :)

But I have a big clean out a couple of times a year. Some years ago when my Mother died, despite the contents of her home being shared out, there was a huge amount of stuff. I couldn't bear to part with any of It at the time and when my husbands mother died a year later, he Inherited all her stuff. I mean, just how many milk jugs does one woman need ????

We had masses of It In storage for years because the house went through some alterations but only this year could I go through and get tough as to what had to go and what stayed.

We sold a lot of It this year and finally I think I can say I've dealt with the clutter although there's the garage to do yet.
