Now what shall I give them?

Now what shall I give them?

I'm talking about my parents. Next week friday on valentines day they got married 33 years ago.

Mum got tickets months ago for a Queen tribute band. So they are having a nice night out. (about time! :wah: )

I wonder what I could give/do for them that day .. I must say i'm on a tight budget, but I'd like to give/do something nice for them.

They got married 33 years ago. Costs: about 30 pound. Dress and suit from a second hand shop.

My mum is a mad dog lady, who got her first book out this year and my dad loves anything mechanical. (request to discovery: stop showing that program air crash investigation! Please!!)

Any idea's?

After doing/getting them something different every year for about uhm 18 years, I have run out of ideas!

I had this dilemma myself with my parents once.

How are you at cake baking ?

I bought a heart shaped cake tin and baked two basic sponges ( I can manage that ) then cut them so the two hearts Intertwined. I used the easy roll fondant Icing and covered It with white Icing and then decorated with piped Icing and their names spelt out on the hearts In Icing.

I'm no great cake baker but I managed to do a half decent job and gave them that with a nice bottle of Champagne. My parents were thrilled because they had something I had made and not shop bought.

Another year, I bought them prime rump steak... My Dad loved a good steak dinner... I even gave them the mushrooms and fries... again, they were thrilled with It.

Just remembered... another year I did them a hamper of goodies such as Olives, preserves, marmalades etc... all the things they liked.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. R.L. Binyon

Now a cake.. That's not a bad idea Oscar!

My baking might be a bit rusty but not at all bad!

Speaking of cakes... the dutch cakes are nothing like english cakes... Dutch cakes are light and with a lot of cream, so need to be stored in the fridge.

I made a cake (english style cake) for my ex once (also for valentines).. Choc cake (dundee cake style) with choc icing... The basterd put it in the fridge.. It set so fricking hard, you could have killed someone with it!!!!
