In This Year of the Horse, please share in my joy
At long last, I finally have a horse of my own again and
I'm over the moon about it.
He is a Welsh/Quarter horse and his name is Leland for
Leland Stanford, to keep our "California" theme going.
Here is a pic, forgive the winter garb (his and mine!) it
was very cold and sleeting a little in the mountains when
I went to look at him:

He's beautiful!

That's great, Val! Will you get to keep him stabled locally or will he be up in the foothills where the riding is so pretty?

Happy riding, Val! :-6

Congratulations Val. I understand your joy !!!
He's absolutely beautiful and I'm so jealous.
I envisage a beautiful relationship between you. Give him a snog for me.

Congratulations, Val, what a good-looking horse he is ! I'm really envious, you lucky person. I always had a hankering after owning my own horse, but cost prevented it unfortunately. Now I'm too long in the tooth and in any case cost is still a factor ! :-1
I'm a Saga-lout, growing old disgracefully

Thanks everyone!
Snooz, he will be kept up in the mountains. If I kept him down here,
not only is it waaaay more expensive, when I wanted to ride up there
I'd have to trailer him up! (He is a good boy in the trailer, it's just the
hassle part of it!)
G#Gill, I'm 61 years old, and plan on riding at least another 15 years if
not much more. My Dad rode into his early 70's, only stopped really due
to having to care for Mom.

Funny you should mention that Lady J, husband and I were just talking about it.
She hasn't met him, and I don't know how we'd work it since where he's boarded
there are 2 resident males to deal with. (They're nice dogs, just probably a
tad bit territorial) Also I kind of worry about the infamous GSD herding instincts!

It would be interesting but perhaps it is best to keep everyone in their perspective homes? I'm sure what ever you decide will work out thou.
Please be sure to keep us posted and do send some pictures of you riding Leland!
