Meet Bella! :)

Post by Hope6 »

This is my new doggie Bella. I adopted her from the Humaine Society back in the summer. She's kinda shy and a little timid. I don't know what happened to her with her previous owner, nothing bad I hope. but she bonded with me instantly. The funny thing is she bonded with my other dog instantly too, I was surprised that happened. :)

You never pick the dog, the dog picks you..

My mums dog Remy (dumped from a driving vehicle into a potato field), was never ment to stay with her so she rehomed him twice.. But he came back every time...

When he came back the second time, he walked back into my mums house all like: aaaahhh home!

My mum said there and then, he has picked his home, so he stays.

She calls him her velcro baby!

Poor Bella looks pretty insecure, still. Be nice to her, she did not have an easy life before she met you.

I wanted a German Shepard, Bella is half Germen Shepard. A relative looked on the humaine society website and it said they had several German Shepard mixes. I called them a few days later and the woman said, every dog they had was adopted but one. she said it was Bella, I remembered the name as being one of the ones I was interested in. When we arrived the woman said, it's like she was waiting for you! When she let her out of the pen, she ran straight for Jake and jumped up on him and kissed him right in the face! LOL then she jumped up on me and that was where she wanted to stay. The woman gave her to us right there on the spot, no waiting period or anything. She is such a sweetheart, and she's so loyal. Whenever I would go out to the fields she would go with me, she'd hop up in the truck and ride in the front seat, and then she will go up and down every row with me. Sometimes standing so close to me that she's leaning against my leg. :)

Lars I think you're right. The story I was told was that she belonged to a little old lady who wasn't able to take care of her anymore, so she put her in a cardboard box, attached a note saying that she couldn't take care of her and her name etc. I hoped that nothing bad had happened to her, she's such a sweetie, but one day the dogs were doing something and I said are you being a bad girl.......OMG!!! her ears went back and she cowered to the ground like someone had hit her. I thought what on earth has someone done to her while using the term bad girl!! :(

LOL I have been a dog lover my whole life. I got my first dog when I was 2 years old. They do seem to bond with me really well. I guess they can tell I love them. :)

Any dog does not take seperation good however well they are treated. Many dogs suffer from ' Seperation anxiety' and that maybe why she's clinging to you.

If It happens once, they are always In fear It will happen again. Don't expect too much from her right away. Imagine adopting a 10 year old child and apply the same principles.

Separation Anxiety in Dogs, My dog has Separation Anxiety

Well done for adopting Hope.

Oscar that's the same thought I had. I figured she was unsure and upset about being given away like that.

Just up the attention until she's really settled In and less Insecure. It doesn't have to take hours... just a pat on the head or a tickle behind the ear once an hour or so.... just to say ' yep, I'm still here'.

As a kid when I asked my father what breed of dog we had he used to say: "Son, he's a sooner."

And I went: "What's a sooner dad?"

Dad would reply: "He'd sooner run than fight."

Didn't you confuse her by changing her name from Precious to Bella Wezzey?

No she didn't like to respond when we called her precious. So we tried all kinds of names and I sneezed so mom said wezzey and the dog came running at her. So that'show she got her name. But I was likje that's not a good name for a bog so I called her Bella and she looked at me. As if she was approving her name

No Bella has been a popular name for ever. I know an old person's aunt named bella and she said she was named after her grandma. cuz her grandma range a bell before she died. So then in honor of the grandma the younger old person got named bella.

With all the baby showers I have been to and have even given a few myself, I had never heard of that game before. :)
