I'll pretty much read anything, except Catherine Cookson type love stories and science fiction.

I have a decent Terry Pratchett and Stephen King collection. I love books about historical events. Actually, it really is hard to say what books I like because there are very few I don't like. I do a lot of travelling on trains (especially when I work in London) so I get plenty time to read.

At the moment I am reading a book called Codex. I'm about halfway through and I'm hoping it doesn't end disappointingly like The Da Vinci Code.

Aye, its something we indulge in in this neck of the woods. Check out the North and South Downs. It might not be Fort Bill but at least it isn't always raining and cold.

Oh, that is my favorite way to travel! I went to Colorado years ago by train, (about a 20 hour trip) and I'd love to do it again.

Welcome to FG, Flang! You'll definitely find plenty of stuff to interest you here. :yh_peace

Hey, Flangie- Glad to make your acquaintance. I like the RSA (though it's probably a good place to be from nowadays). I worked in Malawi for seven years, and took business trips to Jo'burg twice a year. We drove through Beit Bridge, and usually spent the first night in Messina or Louis Trichert. We usually stayed near Jan Smuts Airport or in Bedford View. Saw a lot of changes between 1989 and 1995. Drove through the Drakensburg Mountains once. Visited Nelspruit. Dropping names. Anyway, glad you're here!

There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong equipment. Something southern wimps never appreciate:sneaky: Was at Glen Tress at the weekend there, they have showers and everything now, next they'll be wanting non stick mud

Its a great place to visit! I lived on the East Coast so thankfully nowhere near Joburg. Yes, there have been major changes in the last 10 years, some good, some bad. The new Rainbow Nation is just going through teething problems.

And I'm more southern than the southerners you're referring too!

Showers! What's up with this new fangled technology? It really seems to be taking off.

Hi flangalistic and welcome to FG. You've got some great hobbies. I live very near the South Downs...near Brighton. Beautiful countryside for us 'Southern Wimps' to enjoy....hangliding, mountain biking, etc etc. Being near the sea, there is always lots of water sports going on near me. Look forward to your posts.Arnold and Betty are also southerners....we should stick together..;)

Hi Flang, Welcome to Fg

I grew up in the North of England, we got fed up with camping in the rain Fishing in the rain, hiking in the rain. We went to Scotland camping and after four days of constant rain we went home dried everything out and went down South to finish the holiday.

Then one day my Dad says " I'v had enough of this rain, do you want to move down South or go to Australia" We said Australia so we moved to OZ, haven't seen much rain since we got her 30 yrs ago. :D

Nothing clever is coming to mind at the moment indicating theres an outside chance you might have won this debate.

I would like to point out for the record though, your wildly outrageous statements are being regarded with suspicion as there appears to be no concrete evidence to substantiate them.

And so the game begins. Personally, I prefer not to keep score. It not about winning, its the taking part that counts (and all that cr@p).

By the way I know who my father is, he doesn't carry a light saber and if I had a sister she definately wouldn't wear bread rolls on her ears.

Hey Flan, sorry a bit slow on the greeting but then again I am from the far west time zone. Ok not quite the last one but near enough.

Greetings and welcome to our little slice of madness, I mean paradise. Happy posting.
