What's the point of It ?

It's like eating scented pillow filler.

I got carried away In Sainsbury and went with scented with Thyme and Rosemary.

Even my dog didn't want my leftovers... Boy dog looked at me as though to say ' Isn't that the stuffing I ripped out of your pillow this morning'.

Well we can say that about a lot of "staple" foods. Rice, maize porridge, pasta, potatoes. There all good when eaten with something but a bit uninspiring on their own.

All the staple foods you listed, I could eat alone but not Couscous. It's like eating a mouthful of nothing.

Yes.....but......couscous has no..........substance..... it's like eating dry water with lumps in.

It wont adhere to anything, it doesn't absorb anything, it remains bland, seperatist even when chewed with something else it dilutes it with bland dryness.

Now after some thought, I have never had it made by a Berber hand maiden with almond, lemon,currants,figs exotic spices as a side dish to spit roasted lamb.

I would give it a go again under those conditions.......I will avoid it at the parties I get invited to though.

It works like this... I go and open the door saying to Boy Dog, ' Do you need a wee' and he walks Into the kitchen and walks off with a carrot from the veg rack. It's a skill you know.

Couscous

I learned of that stuff some years ago, and LOVED it. The Mrs not so impressed so it never became a staple.

Since I forgot about it, thanks for the reminder. Gonna check it out to see if there is any locally.

Now and then I make a Moroccan Lamb Terrine which has a lot of warm spices like Cinnamon and Nutmeg. Now, I can Imagine some Couscous with that with the same warm spices and some chopped spicy veg, but, It's the texture I can't wrap my gums round.

Now oddly enough, tonight my wife cooked spicy Moroccan lamb with apricot along with couscous with sultanas, chilli, peppers, coriander and lemon juice. We hadn't discussed the stuff at all.

Bloody luvverly ! One of my favourite meals. The Apricot Is perfect. It's sweet against the fire of the chilli... It's a beautiful dish.

But I have eaten it loads of times. Just the plain one though, at one point it was almost one of the only hot foods I could stomach.

I don't love it, I don't hate it.
