How to Make Millions Selling Mediocre Art.

Okay, I’m on the inside lane when it comes to fine Art & Antiques so I’ll let you into an Art Auction secret. How to get rich selling the paintings of an unknown artist in eight easy steps.

Step One ….. Find a seemingly poverty stricken avant-garde artist from an African or Asian or Arabic background.

Step Two ….. Have him/her paint maybe three or four pieces for you with the understanding that they will get say a certain percentage of whatever you sell them for. This percentage will depend on how greedy you are at the time.

Step Three …. Take the paintings to one of the top Art Auction houses in the world.

Step Four ……Present them with this plan, which incidentally has been in use for years. They enter a single painting by your artist in their next Auction in New York, London, Zurich, Hong King where ever. Prior to the auction spend some cash marketing the artist as the next Picasso, Pollock, Matisse, Warhol who ever.

Step Five ….. On Auction day have a few well dressed buddies in the room, preferably one dressed as a Sheik, as well as a couple of fake phone bidders on line.

Have the Auctioneer, with the assistance of the bidders in the room as well as on the phone, “chase” the price of the painting up two say $2.5 million, GBP or Euros. Then it is knocked down as “sold” to the Sheik or who ever. Have your other fake bidders make a big hoo ha about it, loudly proclaiming that they should have gone a couple of hundred thousand more.

Step Six ….. After the auction have the price this painting fetched reported on TV news programs around the world as well as in all major art magazines and the Internet.

Step Seven … Wait six months and then suddenly announce the impending Auction of another painting by the same artist.

Step Eight …. Attend the Auction and watch the rich and famous attempt to out bid each other trying to become the owner of a painting that fetched 2.5 million six months ago.

Step Nine …… Wait another six months and ……………….

Uhh....too many variables there. We can't control the media. No money to travel, pay people to act or promote the painting. How do we know that the painting is going to be good?

Well, if you wanna make millions, you have to invest a little time, money, and effort. Not to mention being willing to take chances.
