Watching a documentary on Amazon I thought I would visit their site, haven't been on there for several years and never with this PC.
To my amazement they are offering me stuff from my browser history.....frightening isn't it?

Within your browser set the options to "keep cookies for this session only" and "no tracking".
OK, they'll still see what you've done this session but not the back history that open cookies allows them.

If you logged in then the information came from their own database, removing cookies has no effect on that part of their surveillance.

If you look at the Firefox add-on DoNotTrackMe you'll see the capability of rejecting all the cookie history that Amazon and others use to share your browsing topics among themselves. It's a specific subset of your cookies and you have no earthly interest in accumulating it.

Good lord no, they're triggered by that DVD series from when you were working in California twenty years back. Most people would have put a pseudonym on the cast list.

Putting my pseudonym on the cast was when the problem started.

I have been using Firefox for years, a recent update made it look unfamiliar.
It is now Firefox 29.0 Ubuntu for canonical- 1.0 , still finding my way around it.
