I went to view a litter of Jack Russell Puppies 16 years ago when they were 3 weeks old and there In the middle was my Agent Dana Scully, her little heart marking clear. She was the fattest pinkest of the pick and she stole my heart. We collected her at 8 weeks old and then set about finding our Agent Fox Mulder. The Parson Terrier had only just been recognised by The Kennel Club so they were very far and few between back then. It was a year before I tracked down an available Puppy In a show kennels In Liecester. He had a magnificent pedegree from the Jagen line who was winning prizes. His Sire won best of breed at crufts In 1998 and 1999. His dam was runner up. As he was pedigree, his breeder started a new line for us when he registered him with the KC as Jagen Agent Fox Mulder. Over the years, they were Inseparable but Scully was extremely loving where as Mulder was always difficult, typical of his breed.
We lived at the time elsewhere In South Glou with fields at the back of the house and one day out In the field, I believed I was hearing things. I was on one side of the field calling Scully and Mulder but I could hear a man calling Fox and Dana. We met up and realised we both had two dogs and we were both obviously X Files fans.
One night 6 years ago, my husband came home with the tiniest Jack Russell puppy In his pocket. He'd done a delivery and seen her In a cage In appalling conditions. The Idea was Initially to save her from the squalor and re-home her but she wormed her way Into our hearts also. Peter called her Rosie after his Mother.
When we lost Scully last year to old age at 15 years old, Rosie became more of Mulder's companion. Mulder had his 16 th birthday In February, Eyesight failing and completely deaf, but still quite agile. Still extremely difficult.
We know that when his time comes, It will be the end of an era but we have made our minds up to take rescue again but elderly dogs so they have a forever home In their old age.
