Old names that have come back into fashion

Post by fuzzywuzzy »

I was thinking about this when I saw Oscars thread.

Talking to a neighbour I haven't seen in 8 months........she was prego and now bubs is 7 months old. (yes the place I'm moving from is rural and very few houses in between)

So anyway one of their cows were out so I popped in to tell them and got talking about bubs and asked what they eventually called him

Percyville................I have never heard that name mentioned in my whole life, and here is a little tacker called Percy . I asked if it was grandfathers name or something and she said no they just liked it . No one in her or her hubbys family is called it. but she reckons the number of people who say they have percys' spotted all over their family trees is incredible.

has anyone heard any names that seem to of come back into fashion or you havent heard of for awhile? I have a lot of Charlies (Chas) and Ambroses in my family tree. I'd like to see a comeback of Ambrose

Ambrose and Percyville... haven't heard those for decades.

Jack seems hugely popular here along with Oliver, Henry, George, William etc

Percival or perceval was one of the Knights of the round table of legendary fame. Hope they spell it correctly.

I think names go through phases.... Many years ago, women were naming babies Darren and Tabetha after the US show ' Bewitched'... then In the 80's we saw the advent of Kylie's after ' Neighbours'... now apparently we are seeing babies named after ' Game of Thrones' characters.... Of course, the In name now Is George after the new future King.

My own middle name was In honour of her Majesty.
