My word there was a dreadful woman in the pub last night competing with a yappy dog to see which could be the more antisocial. Her single-handed partly-remembered maudlin stroll through the Beatles' back-catalogue won hands-down, how I was meant to appreciate Neville Cardus in hardback with all that going on is more than I know. It would have been less bad had she not thought she was good.

The drunk on the train should have been handed into police custody at the next station.
