Birthday Party!

Have you ever had a surprised birthday party?

I had one when I turned 40 and all in all it was nice....Someone had a cake baked just for the occasion. Even thou I don't eat sweets...thoughtful; everyone else ate the cake! Plus there was an open bar and tons and tons of food!

It is always nice to see your friends care enuf to wish you a happy birthday...unless you don't like to celebrate your birthday.

I have been invited to a 40th birthday celebration next Friday.

So have you ever been surprised on your birthday with a party?

Enjoy the party Lady J

Yes, my husband threw a surprise party for me once and even managed to get a black cake made In the style of The Stranglers.

The best ever was the surprise party we threw for my parents for their 50 th wedding anniversary.

To cut a very long story short, we spent a year tracking down long lost relatives and war vets my Father served with.

We hired an entire resturant for the afternoon and my parents believed they were just going there for lunch.

It really was like the TV show ' This Is your life'.. people they hadn't seen for decades.

I made the cake... two hearts entwined with their names on each heart.

We had balloons made with their names on and also we even had boxes of matches for each table with their picture on them and their names.

It was damned hard work getting all those people from all over the country but they had a wonderful day.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. R.L. Binyon

My friends threw a surprise birthday party for me on the occasion of my twenty fifth birthday.

It caught me totally by surprise, all the more so as it was held at me house!

It was always open house and whilst one group of friends took me off to the pub another group set up the party.

Happy memories :-6

Although not exactly a Surprise Birthday, there was a time when the choir learned that a couple of our regular supporters, who have attended every main concert since the choir was formed, were having their Diamond Wedding Anniversary on the night of the concert, so as a surprise we had arranged to sing "The Anniversary Song" ('Oh, how we danced on the night we were wed') while we had them out at the front to dance. After which they were further surprised by having their family, who had secretly arranged to come over from Australia for the occasion to come from backstage, with the 10 year old Granddaughter, who they'd never met, bringing on a massive bouquet of flowers (which was nearly as big as she was).

There were tears all around, and a standing ovation from the audience.

My girl threw me a surprise party once, and that's hard to do considering I notice everything. She got me down to a hotel on some pretence and SURPRISE! all my firends and family were there.

Hoestly, though, I am a bit uncomfortable with that kind of thing. I like the small family-oriented birthdays.

No and I must admit I don't like any kind of surprises...

I don't do dutch birthday parties either.. Sit in a circle, eat cake, stare at each other and talk about dog poo or your annoying neighbours... Not my kind of party.......

It was my dad's birthday yesterday (57!), i'm popping round tomorrow for dinner, a beer and a huge laugh!

I had some folks try to do a surprise birthday for me, once, but at the time, I was young and unpredictable. I picked up a young lady hitchhiker on the way home from work. She was on her way to Mexico to hike the coast of the Yucatan. We hit it off very well, and I decided to at least give her a ride as far as Matamoras. (we were in Atlanta, GA)

So everyone was at the pub to surprise me. I didn't hear about it until the next September, when I returned from Hiking Southern Mexico. You might say I was surprised.

I'm not sure I would cope with a surprise party :wah:

I have played a part in organising surprise parties for some family members whilst telling everyone I wouldn't appreciate a surprise and I wouldn't allow one to be organised for a relative if I felt they wouldn't like it at all.
