Well, Cars, those memories are not reserved for Americans ! I was a young child but I can remember the game 'Jacks', as they were called in the UK. We had seasons for different school 'crazes' - marbles, jacks, snobs, skipping, conkers etc. I can also remember quite a few other things in the film. Very interesting, and I thank you for posting the video. :D

Thanks for sharing, cars. I do remember many of those as a child. I did have one of those potholder looms.

Thanks for that one! I liked it so much that I made a few comments: :)

1). Seeing Rock Hudson kissing a woman is a hoot!

2). The mint '57 T-Bird is a beaut but the '56 was even better! I've even seen a couple of them with tail-lamps similar to the '56 Mercury . A dream!

3). The early VW Beetle in the video has Belgian number plates on it – not American.

4). I see that the photo of J. Edgar Hoover comes right after the picture of Flip Wilson “in drag. No coincidence?

5). I'm saving this for last because it is the only one that really, really, really burns my azz! Ronnie Milsap singing “In the Still of the Night? What a sacrilege! He ought to be shot. Fred Parris and the Satins wrote and sang that song in the 50's. So why in G_d's name wasn't their recording used in this video??? Twenty-Three Skidoo!

Because, whoever made the video liked Milsap better? No accountin' for taste, huh?

Besides, Milsap was just doing part of "in the still of the night" in his song, "Lost in the Fifties"
