In the blokes defence it is a frightening situation for the officers brought in from their normal run of the mill duties to control a lot of angry people who's anger is directed at them. He is probably supposed to be at home watching TV but he has been drafted in because he can walk.
How can the American people put an old duffer like him in that predicament, armed amongst an angry mob ?

I found the 2nd part even more interesting, where the presenter was talking to 2 different black people. One in Wall Street & another a Parson / Vicar (whatever) from Ferguson & both were saying exactly the same as I said in a previous post about the majority of violent crimes being perpetrated by blacks. The Rev even said that the issue needed to be addressed because it had become non PC to talk about it.
Isn't it funny that when the words come from a white person it seems racist, but when from black it's a profound truism.

By the look of his chevrons (in the bottom-page photo) he's only a corporal. Yeah well, there was another corporal with a gun who started a war, invaded a great number of countries, exterminated 6 million Jews, and generally created havoc for just about everyone. Can't remember his name but he was from Minehead - if I'm not mistaken.

Admit what? That there's any justification in the world for a man to be walking through a crowd pointing a loaded weapon at them and threatening to kill them? A man whose job title was once "peace officer"? And you two frequently complain here how violent Americans are. Make up your minds.

I think that you'll find (under Data Protection laws) that without the consent of all parties concerned, recording is not permitted without a warrant.

Border agent held Boy Scout at gunpoint
Jim Fox, the leader of the Mid-Iowa Boy Scout Troop 111, said the incident occurred earlier this month at a checkpoint along the Alaska – Canada border. The scouts and their leaders were on a 21-day trek from Iowa to Alaska – a trip that had been three years in the planning.
As their vans were moving through a checkpoint into the United States, one of the scouts snapped a photograph. Agents stopped the van and ordered all the passengers to get out. They told the underage photographer that he had committed a federal crime.

During the Soviet era one couldn't photograph railway stations, bridges, police stations, military installations, airports ....... My camera was confiscated even at the Okinawa airport (1967), the film was removed and exposed to the sun. I did get my camera back.
In any case I do believe recording and filming police in the U.S. is legal, even if the police themselves either don't know it or do what they can to intimidate you anyway. There's quite a lot of YouTube footage these days from the States, challenging immigration out-posts and filming them, etc. It's interesting stuff.

Foley was beheaded by ISIS. The reaction from US is tremendous. Michael Brown was shot dead by police. It's still a controvertible case. Because Michael Brown is a black and the killer is a police?

There's absolutely no comparison apart from that someone got killed.
One was entirely innocent, just doing his job as a Journalist in a cold, calculated, execution / murder.
The other had just robbed a convenience store & went for the officer who shot him, in an attempt to grab his gun. Something which happened in a matter of seconds. Yes, he was black. Not really surprising in a predominantly black region, but colour doesn't really come into it. If exactly the same thing had happened under the same circumstances where he had been white would there have been as much fuss made? Of course not. I doubt it would even have reached the local papers. I wonder how many cases there are across the US where whites are getting shot in exactly the same way, but going unreported.
Just because we don't hear about them doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I'm just glad I live in a country which still has a local assault, or at worst, a murder still hitting the headlines. It means it continues to be such a rare occurrence that it remains newsworthy.

It is still speculation whether he went for the officer's gun or what happened. The police haven't even released the incident report yet. There are only the uncorroborated statements by some that were there and some that weren't. I'll wait for the grand jury's report.

Good plan. There are just too many questions without answers.
For example, the coroner said that all the gun shots the guy sustained were from a distance, yet the cop had facial injuries consistent with being beaten and claimed that Brown was trying to grab his gun.

I know it's tragic, but I had to laugh when the shooting school said that they were changing their policy & that in future there would be a 5' height restriction & at least 12 years old.
Now, 12. That's a different matter. After all, how can a fully grown 12 year old possibly hope to survive the playground without an Uzi in his hand?
And they wonder why there's so much mindless gun crime in America.

The police didn't know what Brown had done (robbed a convenience store) when he shot Brown. So Brown should be viewed as innocent as Foley when he died. (by the way, robbing a store doesn't deserve death) Second, Michael Brown was hands up when he was shot to death. That's the point.
Rob the store is a seperated event doesn't relate to the shooting case. That's why I compare it to Foley's case.

. They could quickly determine it's British Jihadist who beheaded Foley. They could even know his name is John though the killer having a head cover all the time. Within hours when MH17 was shot down in Ukraine, they could quickly judge it was down by Russian's Buk misslie and waged a propaganda wave. Consider both were in enemy's fields.
Compare with Ferguson case, it is American's land and you have witness and everything you needed, yet they couldn't reach a conclusion so far. Why? Because the two cases were in their plan while Ferguson case was an accident one.

The way I see it, the MH117 business was a totally different matter. In many ways the ones who were really at fault were the airlines who approved the Direct Flight shortcut in the first place. Although not officially a 'War Zone' (war not having been declared), it was known to be an area of conflict & was therefore irresponsible to permit flights into the region, regardless of who fired the shot.

The route had been a standard commercial route for years. Some airline pilots had decided to divert around the Ukraine, just to be safe. Apparently, this crew did not think it would be a problem.
When we were kids, there was a shooting range out west of town, and nearby, some RC plane enthusiasts set up a flying range.
Most of them had sense enough to not fly their planes over the shooting range. They knew it would be just too damned tempting. But now and again, one of them would fly right over the target area.
They were actually harder to hit that one might imagine.

Another fatal shooting
The decision is not that of the crew but of the Airline. The reason they chose to use that route was merely a matter of finance, so as to save on fuel. Most other Airlines routed around Ukraine knowing it to be a Conflict Region & therefore a High Risk Zone. Because of this I still say that Malaysian Airways were negligent in putting their Dollars before Lives.

Several airlines were still using that route. Some had advised their pilots to use alternative routes that by-passed the conflict area. Even after Flight 17 was shot down, the route was still in use.
